Finally figuring it all out

Hey guys,

So I'm new to this website and this is my first blog post.

It's also my first time ever talking/writing or communicating with anyone about this so it's a bit weird writing this and being able to just say how I feel.

I'm so glad I found this website! For years I thought there was something wrong with me and I was developing schizophrenia or something, I'm sure loads of you guys felt the same! Hell I'm still scared I might go crazy!

Anyways, I'm 21 now…

My first blog entry

Hello,

Like everyone else who is a member of this community forum, I am so pleased to have found out that there is a term for what I do: Maladaptive Daydreaming Disorder (MDD); and there are so many people like me. It would also appear that all of us thought that we were the only one who did this. That’s odd really when you consider how many shared psychosis exist in the world, but maybe we all felt that this was so personal, so weird, that no…

Hello!!!!

So I just recently found out about MD, I never thought anything about my daydreaming. Ive been daydreaming since I can even remember, getting lost from world I know. It was only a year ago at work that I found myself so lost in my mind, everything around just disappeared from view, I didn't even hear the customer whom was trying to talk to me. I became so scared that I thought surely something must be wrong with me. Then I found this place, and I saw the millions of other people that are just… Continue

Hey, I'm New

I didn't see a place for introductions on the forums, so I thought I'd post one here.

I'm Morgaine, and I've been a daydreamer for as long as I can remember. I stumbled upon MD as a condition after finally admitting that I daydream to my best friend of 19 years. It's such a good thing I did, since she was able to help me put a name to my habit.

I'm 29 and I've been married for 5 years, together for 10. My dreaming has always been an open secret between my…

Possible connection between MDD and boring life?

This has probably been already said, but I got to thinking about it just now.

From what I know about brains, they need to be stimulated in order to work right, and if they're not stimulated enough, they make up interesting stuff (a.k.a. 'hallucinate').

Now, as you all can probably imagine, a life in which every day sucks all the same to the point where you start having trouble tracking time, not to mention that you hate it all, is bound to feel boring as hell. And when nothing…

We must step up.

So it is obvious that there is little research on MD, we need to step up, it will be decades before we are seen in a light of someone who suffers with something severe. We all need to step up! We cannot just rely on researchers like Eli Somer we must do our own research. I know many of us already are, I don't mean that we need to put on a lab coat, I mean to use our logic and common sense to figure out different aspects of our mental disorder, we can do this! We are smart! We can receive… Continue

A word of warning

If you find that your daydreams involve characters from, based on, or inspired by real life, I urge you to detach them from their 'originals', or delete them altogether if you can't separate the two.

If you let anything to do with your characters leak from the daydream into your real perspective, they will influence your perception and view. They will influence your opinions, actions, feelings and memories, and you don't want that.

Isolate or destroy.…

Personality Test

So I have been studying Psychology in class lately and we just finished the unit on the Myers Briggs personality test. After taking the test, and being amazed my it's accuracy; I wanted to bring it here and see if there is a common theme of personalities when it comes to Maladaptive Daydreamers. I got INFJ.

Overthinking and MD?

Hi to everyone, hope you're all doing great! Anyways, I found that although I dont daydream as fantastically as I used to, I definitely do a lot of overthinking. It's like my brain never shuts off, and I start thinking of the past and people around me and all this weird stuff. Could there be a correlation between MD and these annoying, racing thoughts?

I wonder if crying daily for one hour since past six years is a normal sign of MDD or if there's something more serious??

Not a single day since past six years has gone without shedding a tear:'-( It weakens me..........what's wrong?

Hoping to Find A Second Family Here

Hello, so I'm Rachel. I never knew about MDD until just about a month ago. All my life, I had always felt as if there was something different about me. My daydreaming isn't as severe as it could be... at least I don't think it. However, I did begin to think that there may be something unusual about me when I started being unable to listen to directions or remember anything, because my mind was always in some fictional world. I have a pacing compulsion with my daydreaming. Whenever I…

First Post - Reaching Out

Hi guys,

I'm really happy to find a community for people like me. For a really long time I thought I was alone. I'm just going to write a little about me.

I've always been super creative and great at coming up with stories (this probably sounds really familiar to all of you). When I was 12, I went to a weird charter school where it was cool to be smart, and I would write all these stories starring me and my friends and I was actually really popular. But then when I went to a…

The princess knight's ancestors.

I am going to warn you, this WILL be a lengthy post! I am going to share with you about my current daydreams!

It all started about four years ago. I decided to read a book that my friends have been pressuring me to read, the book is the Maximum Ride series, great books! But That isn't all... after reading all eight books in 2-3 months, my mind wanted more, a better ending... my mind wanted me in the book. I started my daydreaming when I…

Origins and effects

People don't know how many lies I've old to cover up that I have mdd( especially with my parents) I have been daydreaming ever since I could remember, my first maladaptive daydreams were of mermaids, then of angles and super heroes. I have created a complex family tree that I have been dwelling upon for about 4 years now, moving from character to character. I tried a media fast, but that only made things worse, it gave me more free time to imagine Cancri E, the plant Amity is from, and Amity…

Merry X-mas

Hey everyone,

Christmas is a half religious - half comercial holiday, and it's a weird holiday. It is said to stand for 1) Family and friends gathering 2) Light coming back to the world 3) The birth of the messias 4) Some fat american flying around in a sleigh.

So yeah... it's confusing.

Regardless of the meaning, I think most of all you need to give it your own meaning. People are celebrating, and it's a nice thing to wonder about what in your life you think is worth…

Flags of the Western Union

A favorite pastime for my day dreams is to go into the really obscure details to make my world seem really real. Since returning home for winter break, I've been designed flags of the Western Union, a country from my day dreams that you can read more about in my other blog posts.

I decided to make flags for each of the Western Union's 26 provinces to give them an identity on the battlefield when I draw battle flags. The Western Union is like the United States insofar that it…
