ABOUT

Where am I?

Wild Minds Network is an online forum that has been active since 2010, making it one of the oldest communities dedicated to Maladaptive Daydreaming (MD). Over the years, a wealth of content and personal testimonies from people all around the world who have experienced MD have accumulated.

The primary purpose of this forum is to provide a safe space for individuals to share their experiences, connect with others, and learn more about MD. While there are now many online communities focused on Maladaptive Daydreaming, this forum remains a vital resource in the MD community.

We collaborate with the International Society for Maladaptive Daydreaming (ISMD), working together to raise awareness, promote research, and provide support to those affected by MD.

Am I an MDer?

Maladaptive Daydreaming is not an officially recognized condition yet.
We’re still learning a lot about it.
Here are some of the main symptoms that
seem to be emerging:

• You daydream more often than you think is normal.
• You’ve built up a character(s) that’s an idealized version of yourself
• You feel more empowered in your daydreams.
• You’re starting to enjoy daydreaming better than the real world.
• Daydreaming is starting to interfere with your day-to-day activities.
• You might enact some movement, like pacing or moving your hands, (though not everyone does this).
• Some people make facial expressions, talk, and/or act out their daydreams.

You can also find a more extensive document that can be useful to have a better understanding; it comes from Professor Eli Somer.

This is NOT A TEST, is an assessment tool used by clinicians.

Wild Minds Community

Some easy rules to follow in our community:

1) Please be kind and respectful. More importantly, respect yourself. Don’t share sensitive information that may compromise your security.

2) Please use the Search function to read old discussions and add to them before creating a new one.  A good rule of thumb for discussions vs blog posts is that if you're sharing about yourself, create a blog post. If you’re addressing the community, create a discussion post.

3) Keep in mind that there all ages and walks of life using the forum. Please consider using good judgment when publishing your posts. If your comment or content is vulgar, or it has generated complaints, it may be removed. Refer to Rule#1: Be kind and respectful.

4) No spamming. If you have projects elsewhere online that you wish to promote that are related to maladaptive daydreaming, please contact the Site Administrator or Group Administrator first for permission.

5) While we welcome people from around the world on here, please use English so that others don't feel excluded and to ensure that the comments you make are within the rules.

Violation of the Rules:

A warning and/or removal of content may occur for first infractions. Extreme offenses or repeat-offenders are subject for review and may result in action taken against your account.
