Hoping to Find A Second Family Here

Hello, so I'm Rachel. I never knew about MDD until just about a month ago. All my life, I had always felt as if there was something different about me. My daydreaming isn't as severe as it could be... at least I don't think it. However, I did begin to think that there may be something unusual about me when I started being unable to listen to directions or remember anything, because my mind was always in some fictional world. I have a pacing compulsion with my daydreaming. Whenever I daydream, I have to pace around the house, tossing a ball up and down in my hands or bouncing it off the walls or up the stairs. It has gotten to the point that all day long, I just can't wait to be done with chores or school so that I can grab my ball and daydream to my heart's content. It didn't take me long to realize that other people don't do that. At first, I thought maybe it was ADHD I had, or maybe Asperger's. Finally, just a couple weeks ago, I just happened to do a search about obsessive daydreaming and, for the first time, learned about MDD. I found that nearly all the symptoms of MDD matched mine. I was a bit overwhelmed to find out that something might be different about me, but I was also relieved, because if it was a disorder, maybe there were others who had it. Thus, after a bit of research, I ended up here. I have never told my family or anyone else of my daydreaming, because I know they will think I'm making it up or am just trying to find things to get attention about. Therefore, I'm hoping to find some people who understand me and can relate to me. I hope I can find some friends here. Thanks for making me a member on here, can't wait to get acquainted with you all :)

You will definitely find friends here, Rachel (same name as me!). I've been on this website for over three years now and I've made several long-term friends from three years ago who I'm still friends with today! Plus, I meet new people pretty often on here and make new friends all the time. I'm glad you found the website!

Hi! I'm new here too. I've probably had MD for 18 years and just realized there are other people who have it too. It's nice to hear people talking about this experience that I thought no one else would be able to relate to.

Another new face!
Don't worry about feeling different because of MDD, we all have it in different forms.
