Daydream about being a child again but with a different mother

I’ve daydreamed since I was about 10 . It’s always been about being a child and living with and having a different mum . Usually people I meet (even people I don’t know that well ) that I imagine as my mum . My daydreams are mainly just about day to day life . I’ve never been able to talk to anyone about this I’m scared they’ll think I’m strange or mad and that I’ll get locked up again . Does anyone else have similar daydreams to me ? Or get fixated on like the one person (for me potential mothers ) for a few weeks then move on to someone else ? I have a few people I daydream about regularly and sort of chop and change .
Thanks

Yes, I've had this day dream. Also that I am someone else entirely just to imagine what it would be like to have their mom.

Glad I’m bot the only one that does this ! :) Do you imagine like day to day stuff with a different mum like them looking after you and imagine how they would react in different situations? I hate doing it but love it at the same time . Most of the time I would rather be daydreaming about this than living my life .

I don't have this day dream anymore now that I'm an adult. When I was a child it was like an entire life with a new mom. I know the feeling of hating doing it but loving it at the same time. I'm trying to not day dream so much because our thoughts aren't real and these are keeping me from fully experiencing my life.

In my daydreams my family wasn't present, usually, I imagined them living somewhere else, quite far away. I think mine was a need for independence.

We don't get to choose our family, do we?

...what do you mean when you say that you are afraid of that you'll "get locked up again?"

That’s true we certainly can’t choose our family . Oh I meant get sent to psychiatric hospital . I spent a few years in and out when of secure units when I was a teenager it’s just how I word it:)
When I was a child I dreamed of having really cool dads (like James Hetfield) - my parents got separated when I was 5 and my mom was never that really loving.... So I definitely have issues there.
But after school, when being able to start my own life it kinda stopped. Now I daydream of having really cool friends... So it kinda shifted^^
