Maladaptive Daydreaming: where wild minds come to rest
For those people who have more, "unconventional" fantasies, has it ever crossed your mind to actually try to dress like a character from you own dreams?
I half-a**ed an old costume last year for Halloween, it was a Truish soldier from the Western Union (too specific for any of you guys, IK) using an old military uniform and a large bandanna. I loved wearing it, it made me feel closer to my DD characters, but wearing it around other people was awkward because they'd always ask who I was, and obviously it was easier to lie.
Other times I really want to dress up a Kennedian soldier (my profile picture), but I can't mainly because their uniform is 90% plastic, (though I hope for the commercial rise of the 3D printer to solve my woes!
Do any of you try to do this? Or am I just weird?

True xD
In my dream universe there's more gender equality, so the soldier's uniforms can be worn by both sexes. With your story though, I don't think it's too hard to get a Soviet uniform online though!
I sort of do the opposite of this. I will take pieces I already own, and then weave them into my daydreams. "This bracelet was a gift from the princess..." And then I'll have a big daydream about adventures in a distant kingdom, and being awarded the bracelet in recognition of saving the world or whatever.
It sounds SO silly, but it's kind of fun.
Hmmmm...
That sounds like something I do too! xD
In my story, one of my characters finds all my real life drawings (in the photo section of the website), tucked away in a house she loots after the apocalypse (my real life house). She uses those drawings to predict the future, and open a restaurant chain. xD
here's the full story if you're interested! http://wildminds.ning.com/profiles/blogs/my-most-interesting-charac...
I haven't really, but I have an issue when I clothes shop because my alternate self has some variance in clothing taste than me. Sometimes I buy stuff that she adores and I don't wear all that much. There's many fashions I like the look of a lot but I'm much more comfortable in neutral clothes. She isn't girly but wears feminine clothes. It's useful though when I'm getting into character sometimes.
It's a good thing I'm not alone! I also try real hard to actually get a 3D representation of them s that they feel more real to me. I'm excited for 3D printers, cause the first thing I'm doing on one is print out my main characters. But I also go old school and when I'm bored I just imagine people around me to be people in my day dreams (the reason for my C in Calculus).

That sounds like an awesome idea!
