Maladaptive Daydreaming: where wild minds come to rest
Hello ladies and gentlemen! What a brilliant night we have, perfect to introduce some new talents, the rising stars of our century! Please welcome:...
Okay, that was enough for playful introduction, let's get to business!
Browsing through this site I read some of your stories and experiences about MD. Quite a lot of you imagine her/himself in these daydreams as a famous person (actor/actress, singer, musican, writer etc.).
IF YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT ME, SKIP THIS PART->>>
I personally have different daydreams, some more fantasy like, some more realistic. When I was a child, I imagined myself as a powerful fantasy...something...queen, whatever. While I still have that daydream, I got older, and realised maybe I should write something, a fantasy book perhaps. At least I'd use my daydreaming to create something valuable. That doesn't mean I stopped daydreaming, no... My daydreams changed, and nowadays I daydream about anything, realistical situations, my characters old and new, even BEING A WRITER, giving an interview about my work. I do that a lot, and it calms me down.
--END OF BACKSTORY.
I thought about creating a video project, where you pretend to be your famous/powerful/dream self in an interview situation. Basically, you are the next star in the Graham Norton show (or any show you like). It's a game, where you can be your daydream self for five or ten minutes and talk about your work, dream life etc. Maybe we could make a youtube channel?
And now you're asking, why would I do that?
I think it can help, like a big creative group therapy. I don't know how to stop daydreaming, but I kind of hate being depressed because of my life. Because I compare it to my perfect daydream settings. Of course it is just a game where we pretend to be some character, but this way instead of sitting alone being trapped inside our heads, we could actually turn part of our daydreams into reality. No, of course it would not turn us into that perfect/desirable/other person, nor will it help to achieve that life. What I wan't - and I think this project can achieve that- is for you, to feel the confidence while you're that character. Because it is in you, all the greatness you imagine. A lot of you stated -I read this several times- when you had an exciting period in your lives you stopped daydreaming, because you felt good, you were the boss and you controled your life like you wanted. So, maybe this project-game can help with that.
ANYWAY, thank you for your time, reading this much from me must be boring! Please tell me your opinion about this idea, if you think I'm complete bonkers you're free to say that too!

Hello, welcome everyone! I'm glad so many of you wish to join!
First of all, please be patient! I'm currently working on a Tumblr. page for this project, and will upload a how to- guide like thingy later, then post the link here (We can later collect the videos there too). I'll also make a Youtube channel. I don't know if I can make a channel where besides me you can upload videos too, I thought about making it then giving out the name and password to everyone who wants to upload, but I don't know how safe that would be. Maybe all of you should upload your videos on your own channels and then we could collect them into a playlist(?) You can send me the videos if you want and I can try to upload them, but my internet is not the fastest and most reliable on the planet, so... Let's talk about that later, we're not there yet.
Machelle Irby : I understand that not everyone's daydreams are positive, but if you think making a video and "playing it out" could help you (calm you down for example), you are of course welcomed to join! Mишка (Miska) that applies to you too : )!
I would try and participate, but my unfamous character is also sorta---uncomfortable... people don't want to watch my daydreams, even though there is no graphic violence/sexual content.
I've had several people on Tumblr show interest in your post, but I don't think they're contacting you. Maybe you should go ahead and make a guidelines post or something and tell them how/where to submit their videos?
So in the end...how is this all gonna play out...how are we doing this?
Escarei, once you have all the people that want to do it, you can give them maybe 3 or 4 questions (or more) for them to answer in a video. Then, they can send all the videos to you, and you can slice them together, adding in text portions to show which questions people are answering and giving a blurb about them at the bottom (like who the person is, if they want their name to be revealed).
If you want any help with the video work, I am happy to help you. Otherwise, don't feel obligated to take my suggestions. That's just what I thought when you first mentioned it. :)
I am on borad....though I don't really picture myself as a famous person...more of a superhero thype thing I guess.....actually there I a couple of times where I made my fiction syfy thing into a famous game and then..i was famous..........hmmm....either way I am on board!!!
When you do it, you should post the videos here, so people here can view them.
