My attempt to bridge DD with reality, baby steps

So these are the Cornish pasties I've just cooked today. I have never been to Cornwall, never eaten a Cornish pasty, nor have I ever tried to cook any sort of pie. However, many of my dd's have English characters (I'm American) and I ran into several news articles debating exactly what constitutes a proper "Cornish" pasty. So being a self repecting Brit loving MD person with a day off...I attempted to make them using a recipe found on the internet. No carrots! I haven't tried them yet. I don't know what they're supposed to taste like. They look good. Anyways, the important thing is is that I did something in real life rather than just dd'ing about it. Maybe I'll make a brisket next!

Job is going well so far, thanks.  The 14th is in my diary!  All that remains now is to decide what to cook I guess ...

Welcome back katherine and congrats on the new job.Hope it's going well.

Looks like we have a plan!

I think we should stick with Renaissance for this one - maybe even a fusion meal, as Sasi suggested, using some more modern versions of an old recipe.

Katherine, hope the new job is going well.  Transitions can be exciting, difficult, both.

Congratulations Katherine! I hope the new job is going well. Looks like the 14th is the big day!

Yes, time to decide on a dish. I keep saying I'm going to search for something but I admit I haven't yet. Does anyone have any ideas to share?

Hi, sorry I've not posted for a while, thanks for noticing, was sweet you wondered where I was. Started a new job last week and had a busy weekend. Friday 14th works for me.

Oct 14th good for me.Also like idea of retiring to parlour afterwards.Shall we decide what to cook next?Did we actually decide on a theme or are we doing an eclectic mix?

Where is Katherine? I haven't seen her on the page for a while. Hopefully she has something very good and exciting going on that is keeping her busy. October 14th works for me. I really need to get online and look up some stuff to cook. I don't have a preference on what course we cook, main dish, dessert, soup...whatever is easiest for all to agree on. And retiring to the parlor sounds like a good time too!

I'm coming up with Fri.,  10/14 at 2PM EDT, 7 PM Lon. time, and 11 AM PST.  Where is Katherine; we need to get her input.  We can do this.  I guess the other way would be to have the dinner & then get together as soon as possible afterward to "retire to the parlor" for a chat; it wouldn't necessarily have to be the same day.

Tues, thurs and fri usually best for me at 7pm.Can't do 28-30th sept or fri 7th oct as Jewish holidays.I'm probably the most tricky one for arrangements because of my kids schedules so please don't let me hold anything up.

roxanne...prepare to be even more confused. I have every other Friday and every other Monday off. I need some coffee. I don't have any objections to any way we announce it. I promise I am hopelessly easy going. So even numbered Fridays I have all day, odd numbered Mondays I have all day. Except Friday Sept 30-Oct 1st I will be busy (a truly unusal thing I assure you!). Now that must have everyone thoroughly mixed up. So, yeah.
