Giving up tips? Please share...

I am not sure I ever want to give up entirely because sometimes it's entertaining and comforting.

But does anyone have tips that have worked for them to stop or lower daydreaming? I have tried to cut out triggers like for example I listen to music much, much less now.

Any and all comments would be appreciated thanks guys xx

Wow thanks guys! I've not heard of the counting 5 things you see etc thing before. I feel like that would work. And also reading something to keep my focus on something else. I'm definitely gonna try those out thanks so much XXX

I read this somewhere and it works.  Count off 5 things you can see, 4 things you can feel, 3 things you can smell.  Be very specific and it seems to ground me and pull out.

Oh and there is this 5 second countdown rule which kind-of helps but maybe it'll help you more. So basically whenever you daydream and you realise it countdown from 5 and then it should help you get back to reality but it doesn't always work.

So far I've found bringing my attention back from daydreaming helps. These things have helped me:

 1) Speaking out loud or singing

2) reading something small, like the ingredients list of a product.

3) listening to songs you don't normally listen to, for example if you like pop music listen to rock. Or listenimg to songs from another language.

4) usually talking to people.
