A few weeks ago I had a neurological exam. My therapist suggested it because she thought it was possible that I had Obsessive Complusive Disorder or was on the Autism Spectrum. I honestly thought that I wouldn't recieve a diagnosis. Yesterday my mom told me I was diagnosed with Asperger's, O.C.D, Depressive Disorder, and one that she wants to find more about before she tells me (which is very concerning to me).How does someone walk out of a three hour appointment with four diagnoses?

Anyways, have many of you been diagnosed with something other than MD (which I'm not sure any of you actually have been diagnosed with MD)?  What  is it?

@  Kathleen Fahey

I suggested the possibility of having Asperger's to my first therapist, but she thought it was completely absurd. It's really common for girls with Asperger's to not get a diagnosis because they act much differently than boys with Asperger's.

@ roxanne

I've talked quite a bit about MD with my therapist. We've worked on ways to lessen my daydreaming, but I'm not entirely sure if I have an official diagnosis of it (is it possible to if the DSM doesn't recognize it as an official syndrome?). It also wasn't my therapist who gave me the neuro exam and diagnosed me. My therapist doesn't have the qualifications to do that, so we had to see a neuropsychiatrist.

I think that I definitely do have Asperger's and OCD (it tends to run in my family) , but I don't know about Depressive Disorder. I haven't recieved the official results yet because they have to be mailed to me, but the way my mom explained it was that it wasn't necessarily depression just a mood disorder; which does make sense for me to have but I still just don't know.

Sorry for the novel. I apoligize if I misunderstood some of your questions, I have difficulties with that sort of thing.

Did you tell therapist about MD?  Show them Cynthias & Cordellia's work on it?  She may be attributing things to other disorders that are actually just part of MD?  Do you feel that you are depressed?  OCD is probably easier to diagnose, but the important part is how much does it interfere with your functioning?  Many people have OCD traits.  And don't be frightened at having different diagnoses.  Many of these overlap and it is not unusual to have symptoms from this & that.  What does your therapist have to say? Does she/he know about MD?

I've been diagnosed with PTSD, severe specific phobias, and major depressive disorder.

I was tested all throughout elementary and middle school for Asperger's because every year my teachers thought I had it. I was never diagnosed with it, though.

I assume it's because I had MD, but they didn't know what it was at the time.
