The darkness. That's all that I was aware of. Was darkness. My eyes were open, I know they were, but I didn't see anything. I even did that thing where you wave your hands in front of your face, hold them there for a second to try to see finger silhouettes. But nothing. I sat there, I don't know how long it had been. I decided to search. Groping around on the floor trying to figure out where I was. I came across a wall. It had a cloth over it. I pulled downward on it, but it didn't come off. I used it to help pull myself up off the ground; my legs were too afraid to stand. I finally got to my feet and the cloth dropped to the floor. Of course I had only heard it fall, I still couldn't see anything. First I smelled something -some odor- almost like the smell of soil. Then I heard something -breathing. LIGHT. It blasted through. I didn't know where it came from but it looked to be from a door. It died down, dimmed out and I could finally see something. I walked through the door hoping I could find out what was going on. I walked and walked through what seemed to be a long bare hallway. I stopped. How long had I been walking? I thought. I turned around, there was a mirror- Where? Where did it come from? I saw myself; I was naked. I blinked. There was a monster. It looked plant-like, like a Venus Fly Trap. One body and multiple heads -like the Hydra. Snapping teeth. Exhaling green clouds of smoke from each head. It drooled. In shock I stepped back and looked over my shoulder; there was nothing. I looked back to the monster -it was just a mirror again. I looked around again and found myself surrounded by mirrors, 360°. The monster blinked feverishly in each mirror; then it was just me. Naked. It was then I realized: I am a monster. I'm trapped. Either a monster in a human's body or a human with a monsters mentality. Nevertheless - I can not escape.

This was an assignment I had to do in my senior year. My teacher would give us a topic and 15 minutes to write a response. So this was mine. I think it's kinda cliché, but he liked it. I think.... actually all he wrote in response was: "Scary"
