seemed like too big a question. I came across as a bit arrogant, and I felt bad because I didn’t mean to lecture anyone.

Then I explained myself better.

The thing is, for me, a "life plan" means the direction you're following. It means something like, "I’m babysitting while studying, and then in two years, I’ll decide what else I want to do," or "I want a job that allows me time to dedicate to my true passion."

I think it’s important to give yourself a direction. It doesn’t have to be the final one forever. But it’s better than being stagnant. And in our dreams, we’re stuck in that stagnation.

As I see it, when you're trapped deep enough in this condition and its causes, you don't get to have plans. Being anchored down like that means you're doomed to either stretch beyond any limit to desperately bridge the gap between the inside and outside of your head, or snap and be imprisoned on the wrong side of that chasm all over again. It's beyond exhausting, and leaves room for little else.

I suppose it ultimately comes down to whether or not you're capable of functioning materially in spite of this plague. If you're "there" just enough to not sink into poverty and have the logistics of your outer life somewhat in order, you're at least ensuring that a potential future you who has broken free will have something to work with. If not, then you have bigger problems anyway.
That's my two cents.

I partially agree. Setting goals helps if they're achievable.

I'd only like to add that if your MD is severe, you should include that in your life plan, too. If you focus just on good things you want to achieve, you might subconsciously ignore the problem preventing you from making progress in that direction. We're talking about addiction-like symptoms, after all.

"I want a job that allows me time to dedicate to my true passion" is good, but it's just a wish. "I will change my relationship with daydreaming and look for a job that allows me time to dedicate to my true passion" is long-winded, but it acknowledges the problem as well as the means to solve it.

Hope I didn't come off as nit-picky. It was a very thought-provoking post, thanks Valeria.
