Interview to Dr. Somer and Dr. Soffer-Dudek

If you could speak with Dr. Somer and his research partner Dr. Soffer-Dudek, what would you ask?

Professor Eli Somer is the first who has studied maladaptive daydreaming. He had created the name "maladaptive daydreaming" itself.

I'm organizing a video interview with both of them, and they are available to answer your questions. Dr. Soffer-Dudek is an expert on MD related to and OCD, ADHD, dissociation, sleep, and night dreaming.

Please feel free to write your question down in the comments; we'll select the most relevant or frequently asked.

1. How can one explain their MD/immersive daydreaming if they did not ever experience trauma or abuse?

2. I enjoy my MD as they are not linked with trauma/abuse. I know there are many others like me, therefore can people like me have more representation in [your] studies?

3. I live in a small community. How do I explain to my doctor that I MD/immersive daydream without him thinking I'm making it up, or am doing something that I should have outgrown from childhood?

4. I read one article where it says maladaptive daydreaming is a psychiatric condition, and in another it will say it's not a recognized psychiatric condition. This happens frequently online between medical websites such as Healthline, Medical News Today, and of course - Wikipedia. What constitutes a condition to be recognized?

Hi Valeria, my question would be how to deal with it, I started daydreaming since 13,14 and always with music around. I just want my life to start. I’m just tired.
Also some other questions:
1. Is this illness part of a psychosis spectrum ?
2. How long has he’s team researched this ?
3. Where did he get an idea for researching MD ?
4. Patient outcome
5. How can someone with MD channel his fantasies somewhere else? Should this person start writing things down as a play, or paint things ...etc.

P.S when is this interview happening would love to be a part of it
