...I sometimes think, could that be MD as well?

It may look a little different (for instance;  collecting a house full of trolls, Barbie dolls, or Raggedy Ann's;  wanting to be an adult baby;  etc.), but there is a lot of fantasy involved.

Does anyone know what these types of obsessions are usually called in the medical world? OCD? Just a plain obsession? I know the baby thing is called infantilism.

I'm pretty much convinced it's all the same. Because it all has to do with losing touch with reality, and wanting to escape the real world in a fake fantasy world.

Also, in this program I recall some of these people speaking of a trauma that started their obsession. Just like it is the case for most of us with MD.  (I remember that the woman who collects Barbie dolls started this obsession after her mother passed away and the Barbie’s are a constant reminder of her mother).

How do you guys think about that?

Even though there's very little research on MD, it sounds conceivable that it is related to OCD. And the fact that most of us began daydreaming as a response to some physical or emotional trauma seems to be a common theme.
