There's also this movie called 'The secret Life of Walter Mitty' which is super relatable.

Movies: there are some, even if none of them specifically mention "maladaptive daydreaming".

One of the most recent is "The secret life of Walter Mitty".

One of my favorite movies ever is actually about a girl who has MD, "Le fabuleux destin d'Amelie Poulain."

"Precious" could be, and "I was thinking about ending things" has also been mentioned by others in this forum but personally I didn't like it (you can find a conversation about it).

Books, I was told about  White Nights by Dostoevsky but I haven't read it yet.

Do you have any suggestion?

And as I'm sure you're aware, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty film was based on this classic James Thurber short story, which you can read here:

"High Fidelity" starring John Cusack, Tim Robbins, and Jack Black. John Cusack's character, Rob definitely has at least one maladaptive daydreaming moment while he is at work. It's been ages since I've seen the film, but I do remember back then when I saw the scene in question I thought, "Oh my god, I actually do that" - and this film was made in 2000, just before maladaptive daydreaming was coined or researched.

I can't remember if there was more than one moment in that film, but for sure, that one moment sticks out and it is absolutely identifiably, without question - a maladaptive daydreaming moment.

I've never seen it!

I've added to my list.

I've just now fully realized that in 2000 MD was not even coined. OMG I was already in high school.

I think it would be fun making one. :-)
