For my psychology class, we have to do a final research presentation instead of taking an exam. I was thinking of doing mine on Maladaptive Daydreaming. :) Any thoughts?

There are some resources on the Links page including the most recent study, at the bottom.  Be sure to include the most recent study findings on the subject.  Let me know if you need any help.  :)

Thank you so much! :)

I think it would be great.  The more interest& information that gets out there, the better.

That would be so cool! You should do it! Tell me how it turns out :)

I was considering doing the same thing for my class. In the end i've decided to to the psychology in fairytales, all my fantasies are based on stories and things. I want to know about the first stories i probably drew dreams out of as a kid, and generally how fairytales shape our morals and what we want out of life, since i think a lot of those seep in to how we make our characters and our  storylines.

MD would be fascinating as a project though. The class will probably find it fascinating too though, people who dont do it especially teenagers like us, might say something stupid or disrespectful but dont let it get to you. I assume you dont tell people about your MD, I sure dont, so just make sure you talk about it from an outsiders view, so people don't guess you are one of them. Unless you feel comfortable with them knowing though.

If you go through with it, you should read the paper Eli Somer (the psychologist who's actually done legitimate research into it) wrote about it. Here's the link: http://www.somer.co.il/articles/2002Malaptdaydr.contemp.psych.pdf

Your teacher might be very impressed if you are able to interview someone with the condition. It will bring some real creativity and initiative points. I'd be happy questions about it (that you can add your own thoughts onto) like in an interview so you can say you have an interview with responses a person gave to you, instead of just things you read on a forum. I know it's probably both as honest but an interview sounds more ... reliable? Makes the facts seem more real? It's also a good way to put in your personal feelings on it without letting the class know you have it. I'm suggesting it becuase that was something I was going to try to do if i did mine on MD.

if you think it's a good idea message me and i can give you a skype name or google chat or whatever, otherwise no worries. It can be weird feel weird talking to people you dont know. For the record, I'm a 16 year old girl who has had MD since i was... 9, i guess. Could be nice to talk to someone with the same condition. Putting a voice to it instead of just the posts on the forum. Be new level of not being alone.

Anyhoo, dont know how i got all the way here. When i starting writing this i was just going to give you the name of the website. Always end up on some kind of tangent somehow. Well, Good luck the project!! Hope it all works out.=)

I think interviewing someone is a great idea.  You could start with Cordellia, then a diverse group of people on here, either on-line or in private chat.   Or on chat function here.  We could have another EVENT!!

Seriously, I think it's wonderful you are doing it.  You deserve a gold star.

Thanks , guys. You're all so helpful. (:

I'm still debating whether or not to go through with it. But I'll let you know how it turns out!

go for it , it's a great topic to talk about and to make others learn about it too , hopefully you may find hidden MDers who have it but they are not aware of what they have so in this case who has it they might wanna talk to you after the presentation is over .

thats a great point. i cant imagine what i would have felt like if i found out about it through someone saying it in a presentation in front of me.

i found this site because i came looking for it. hearing it by surprise would feel like stumbling upon the meaning of life.

That is a good point.. :)

Sounds awesome!! We need more exposure to this problem/gift/disorder whatever you call it. I'm sure many on here would let you ask them questions or do an interview! (me included). I bet it will be nothing like your professor has heard before ;)

and bravo for using it to your advantage!

Sounds like a good idea, and lets a few more people here about this too!

Plus maybe you could send a mass email out to however many people on here, with a Q/A on it.
