Maladaptive Daydreaming: where wild minds come to rest
OK, I'm just wondering, does anyone here know any songs/song lyrics/poetry/quotes/phrases/titles or anything else like that that reminds your of daydreaming or of your MD? Here are some of mine:
She lives in a fairytale
Somewhere too far for us to find
Forgotten the taste and smell
Of the world that she's left behind
The first four lines of the song Brick By Boring Brick by Paramore. This songs also says, 'Keep your feet on the ground/When your head's in the clouds' which I find very good advice!
Dream on dreamer
And the sun will always shine down on you
Keep on dreaming
It's alright, feel alive
Dream on dreamer
And the world keeps spinning around and around (you go)
Don't stop dreaming
It's alright to feel alive
The chorus of Dream on Dreamer by Cascada. This is the song I listen to when I feel guilty about my MD - it makes me feel better about it.
I live my daydreams in music. ~Albert Einstein. OK, this actually freaked me out a bit. I was searching 'daydreaming quotes', and this came up! Could Einstein have been... one of us? Lol, that sounded like... I dunno, like we're evil or something. Lol.
Dreaming is an act of pure imagination, attesting in all men a creative power, which if it were available in waking, would make every man a Dante or Shakespeare. ~H.F. Hedge. I actually found this a bit stupid. Hasn't he ever heard of DAYDREAMING? What an insult! Well, we should all be a Dante or Shakespeare, then. Lol.
I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
I don't know where it goes
But it's home to me and I walk alone
I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
When the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk alone
The 1st verse from Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day. It might not make perfect sense, but this is how it talks to me: the lonely road is basically the path I walk everyday, through my daydreams. It's lonely because no one is actually there except me, plus I can't change the song. It's 'the only one that I have ever known' because it is. I've spent pretty much my whole life DDing. And I don't know where it goes because, simply, I don't. It's home to me, that's so true, my DDing is home to me.
The next verse-y thing is basically me remembering all the DDs I don't DD anymore. Boulevard of broken dreams is a great way to put it. The broken dreams I don't DD anymore. 'When the city sleeps' everyone from my old DDs aren't paying attention so I can visit them quickly without waking them up so they make me feel guilty that I don't DD them anymore. I always wake them up though. Lol.
OK, I probably have more, but the bad cold I have and the sleep I haven't been getting lately are causing my memory to malfunction.
Does anyone else have any others?

im living in a world of fantasy

all that i see is so unreal. - by Helloween world of fantasy
i think these verses explains them selfs. i think that its kinda true what do you think?
"Imagination is our only weapon in this war against reality." Jules de Gautier
"I shut my eyes in order to see." Paul Gaugin
I really like the sound of those two.
Most especially, by C.S Lewis, author of the Narnia series: "If we discover a desire within us that nothing in this world can satisfy, also we should begin to wonder if perhaps we were created for another world."
i love paramore, and brick by boring brick always reminds me of MD. o: especially "you build up a world of magic because your real life is tragic".
there a few songs other than that, that remind me of MD, but now i can't remember any of them. xD when i think of them i'll put them here.

This is my favorite painting.
Love the discussion & the entries. Will try to think up some of mine.
"I have dreamed in my life, dreams that have stayed with me ever after, and changed my ideas; they have gone through & through me, like wine through water, and altered the colour of my mind."
A great quote by Emily Bronte.
If you ain't got time for me
I'll find another Fantasy.
By George Michael
Every man has a place
In his heart there's a space
And the world can't erase his fantasies
Take a ride in the sky
On our ship fantasise
All your dreams will come true right away
One of my favorite groups - Earth, Wind & Fire.
I always think "Oklahoma USA" by the Kinks captures it pretty well:
But in her dreams she is far away,
In Oklahoma U.S.A.
With Shirley Jones and Gordon McRea,
As she buys her paper at the corner shop,
She's walkin' on the surrey with the fringe on top,
Cos in her dreams she is far away,
In Oklahoma U.S.A.,
She walks to work but she's still in a daze,
She's Rita Hayworth or Doris Day,
And Errol Flynn's gonna take her away,
To Oklahoma U.S.A.
Also "Sway" by Bic Runga seems to get the way I relate to my daydreams and the characters in them. It gets that desire to disappear into them completely, the frustration when you can't escape into them.
this song used to make me cry when i was younger. i really relate to it. its "sleep" by "stabbing westward"
When he calls her daddy's little girl,
She doesn't hear him
When he crushes her
She can't feel - her screams are silent
Hides in the corner of her mind
Where she plays contently
She leaves this nightmare far behind
She escapes inside her dreams
Floating high above her bed
Staring at her father's head
Wishing one of them were dead
So this hell could finally end
in magic the gathering there is a card called future sight. the quote on the card is "My past holds only pain and loss. I will conquer it by creating the perfect future."
also i read a character in a pen and paper rpg book. cant remember what one. but it was for a soothsayer. i remember it said these oracles were always in danger. though their daydreams gave sight of ones future they ran the risk of becoming addicted to thier dreams and never returning to the current world.
