Possible reason for DDing? (I know millions of these have been posted, but... oh well *shrugs*)

Hello everyone, and welcome to Truthful Alibi decides to write such a long post that it destories the entire internet from taking up so much space my new theory on why we daydream!

Yes! Hooray! *crickets chirp*

That wasn't a joke.

Anyway, I'll start off with a weird question, which will make sense when I explain. Hm, I seem to be turning into one of my teachers. Has anyone ever read the book Matilda by Roald Dahl? I remember reading it a few years ago, when I was younger. Anyway, she's basically a girl who's really smart and because of that can move stuff with her eyes but has parents who treat her like a thicko blah blah blah.

At the end, she gets moved up to a higher class, and discovers that because the work is harder and she is using her brain power more, she can no longer move stuff with her eyes.

So... see where I'm going? Well, probably not, because I have a VERY strange way of thinking (even for an MDer) so I'll explain.

Basically, when we DD, we're using our imagination, which therefore means we are using our brains (*people clap* "Amazing! How did you figure that out!?").

From what I know (not much), the smarter you are, the more imagination we have. So MDers must be really intelligent, considering we spend so much time using our imaginations.

Going back to Matilda, the girl moves stuff with her eyes because all the work she is expected to do is all too easy, so she needs a way to exercise her brain.  She does this by telekinesis (moving the stuff with her eyes)

It's similar for us. We have so much brain power, intelligence and smartness that we need an outlet for it. So we daydream.

I know some people will argue that not all MDers have lots of brain power (while pointing at me, and only me), but still... it's an idea. And what would the world be like without ideas, eh? Well, it would be better without the idea of boring students in school.

So, apart from "*&!?~+ you are !$%*? crazy!", what do you think of this theory? And sorry for all the rubbish jokes I've made in this, joking seems to be natural for me.

The only issue I see here is that it sort of implies that we aren't being challenged enough in our general lives, concerning things that work the brain, like studies. This isn't the case with many people who have MD, because one of the main complaints is that the DDing interferes with classwork and learning. Yes, people are more prone to pay attention to things that capture their interest, which is why everyone and normal people daydream in class, but it is escalated to an unreasonable and uncontrollable point with us.

I actually saw the Matilda movie in theaters when I was a kid and loved it, but I forgot how it ended. I dunno why, but I'm kinda shocked, lol. Anyways, that's a very interesting and creative theory! That'd make a movie even more epic than Matilda (if somehow our daydreams also became reality). o_o

So let me see if I understand this right....

Premise: We have so much brain power that we need to have an outlet, which is daydreaming.

Well, I never felt like my brain was going to explode if I didn't daydream. Ok, that's a lie... But it's definitely not that severe! I think... =P

Why is it daydreaming in particular? Why not something else?

Are you making the assumption that we're smarter than highly intelligent people who don't daydream often? That somehow, our intelligence is out of this world, like Matilda's powers? Well... I nearly flunked my Calculus II class. *sob*

If you're not making that assumption, then why aren't all intelligent people daydreaming like crazy? Now we're right back at the beginning, lol. Let alone we have to define intelligence, brain power, and account for other factors that affect intelligence. Maybe it's more of a left-brain/right-brain thing? I have no idea... Btw, I love the jokes~ And I'm serious about that movie idea. xD

The left/right brain thing is a total myth. Yes, the brain appears to have halves. But the halves do not control different things.

In addition, I am in a school where ~60% of the students have an IQ above 130. As far as I can tell, I am the only person out of all of those people who has MD.
