Hi Everyone!

I decided to put a post up because of the notification that the site is shutting down very soon. Therefore, I wanted to share something with all of you that has helped me and changed my life for the better. Three years ago this month I asked my doctor to prescribe me a medicine called Fluvoxamine (not to be confused with Fluoxetine). It is an SSRI used to treat OCD. I read in an article years ago that said a man with Maladaptive Daydreaming began taking it and the daydreaming stopped - he couldn't even day dream if he wanted to. I was already being treated for depression by my PCP so I asked if I could give it a shot and literally the next day, THE DAY DREAMING STOPPED. I could not believe it. I was no longer in the fantasy, I was in the moment 100%. I have been on this daily med since and I cannot imagine being without it.

I wanted to share this with you guys as one last piece of advice since this amazing platform will be gone. If you are like me and wanted to stop day dreaming, talk to a doctor and give this med a try. You might need a cocktail of meds but that is open to discussion with a medical professional. Unfortunately, MDD is not understood fully yet, but I know this medicine helped me take control of my life.

Like many of you, I go MD when I was about 12 y.o. after a traumatic experience and I was non-stop day dreaming for years until I was 23. Now at 26, I have many hobbies, good friends and can ENJOY these things and day dream a regular amount. I missed my daydreaming when it stopped, but after a while, that feeling went away.

Sorry for the long post, but I really felt I needed to share with you guys. Best of luck, and much love, from one wild daydreamer to all of you.

Thats really interesting I've not heard of anyone having such a great response to medication. Are a member of any other md communities where you can share this?

Hey Emma. Unfortunately not, I am not part of any other communities where I can share this but if you can recommend or connect me to some, I would love to get the message out.

This site was referred a while ago when wildminds was overrun with bots. I think it would be a good place for you to share your experience with other MD'ers.

Awesome! Thank you so much for sharing that. I will post there so we can get the word out.

If you go to daydream in blue there is also a link to the discord. Theres a big reddit community as well.

Awesome! I'm going to post on the Reddit right now! Thank you for sharing.

I stopped daydreaming after getting psychiatry by a relative. I didn't have to take medication. He told me the facts about what MD does and that nothing you want in life comes out of it. After his words, I just snapped awake and felt bad—and very surreal for some days. As I've been living in my own worlds since I was 12, and now I'm 34. My life needs vast improvement. I have no social life and its tough with coronavirus. Makes me feel piteous, but I'm sure there's hope.
