Hello Group,
My name is Sean Welch and I am a documentary film producer in Los Angeles.  In doing research for a possible documentary on imaginative thinkers, I was pleased to discover the Wild Minds Network.
I am writing to ask/invite members of this group if they would feel comfortable sharing with me, via email, their daydreams.  I am particularly interested in daydreaming that includes vast imaginary worlds, or world-bulding.  To be clear, I would like to begin an email dialogue with people; I am not asking for a commitment for participation in the potential project.  Please contact me if you are interested.
My first feature, the Oscar-nominated Spellbound, focused on children who compete in the National Spelling Bee.  My second documentary, Lucky, about the live of lottery winners, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and went on to air on HBO as part of their summer documentary series.
Thank you for your consideration,
Sean Welch

I agree there's a big difference between compulsive daydreamers, maladaptive daydreamers, and just creative people............but it feels like we're all on a big continuum, so the lines between which is which are really blurry at best.  I'm not sure it matters where his focus is to be honest.  Not all imaginative thinkers are maladaptive daydreamers, but all maladaptive daydreamers are imaginative thinkers.  It seems logical to include them in anything about imagination.  My daydreams aren't very visual, but they're imaginative and enriching in other ways.  Anything that starts a dialog about imagination can only help us.  How many of us suffered in silence while judging ourselves as crazy before we learned about this?  The thought of more people suffering is unbearable to me.  If we can get the dialog going a bit more then more people are bound to look it up and find out about this.  It could help them feel better about themselves.

Sean, if there's anything else I can do to help in any way, please let me know.

I'm new here and just found out about all this myself. I've been dealing with this my whole life. I'm 47. I don't remember when it started because I don't remember a time when I didn't do this. It's taken over so much of my life now. I realized it was starting to effect reality and actually it has been for some time I just didn't know that until now.  That realization prompted me to start doing some research and I found this site. I'm so glad I did. I think this is going to change my life.

I would love to help out in anyway I can. I need to find a way to deal with this issue and I think I could learn a lot this way and hopefully help someone else in the process.

I would be happy to help, but am not sure how to e-mail you.  Do I reply in box that comes right after your initial request?
You can private message him through this site if you want.

Hi there...I would love to answer any question you have about daydreaming.

I consider it my responsibility as a daydreamer to spread the word about it. I don't think many people know that this goes on in our heads.

wow that would be so fantastic if this does get realeased! Thankyou Sir for doing this. Anything you need just ask.
I think he said he just wants people to email him (you can private message him through this site), describing their fantasy worlds.  I think this sounds like a fascinating project that could do a lot of good.  I really hope a bunch of people will email him.

I'm curious to know more about how he plans to use this information.
I think he's just doing background research right now.  I don't think he's going to use this information yet.  I think he's just trying to see what's out there for future possible use.  I haven't heard from him in awhile, though.  He mentioned heading out of town.  Hopefully he'll follow up with us soon.
sure, here be my email~ deloreanjones@gmail.com
I honestly don't see why you guys are so worried.  He seems like a perfectly reputable guy to me, and it's not like he can steal your identity with what he's asking for.  He's asking for people who are interested in sharing their fantasy worlds with him.  If you're not interested in sharing, you don't have to.  No one has to.  There are enough people out there that I'm sure he'll find some who want to share.  This is a beautiful thing.  It's a beautiful subject matter.  I'd hate to see such a beautiful project sullied by cynics.  No one's demanding that anyone share anything they're not comfortable with.  Everyone has a right to their privacy and their anonymity.  If you don't want to share, then I urge you not to.  No one's going to try to make you.  However if you're interested in sharing your fantasy world with someone who's genuinely interested, then send him a message.
It's also worthwhile to say that he hasn't been on in awhile.  I don't think he's avoiding any questions.  I think he's just out of town or something.
