Has anybody watched the movie "The secret Life of Walter mitty"?

I am new on this website and I don't if anyone posted something about this movie. It is about a guy that has MD and escapes his anonymous life by disappearing into a world of fantasies filled with heroism and romance. I have almost the same kind of daydreams that he does and wanted to know if anyone else have those daydreams. By the way, it is a good movie. (:

English is not my mother language. Then I may have written something wrong.

Yes, people have posted about this movie a few times.  I haven't seen it yet.  It's based on a short story by James Thurber.

yes just the other day actually. Its what made me search for better awnsewrs to what is wrong with me. so I googled daydreaming and eventually found a site about MD which describes my problems better than i could. interesting film.

I wasn't going to see it until I saw it mentioned here and then saw it. I have the same feelings for that film as I do with Silver Linings Playbook. I love it, and can enjoy watching multiple times, but at the same time I hate. In the beginning I can relate to the main character, the contemplation of sending an emote on an online dating site, imagining conversations with people all the while not amounting to much. What I hate about it is how Stephen Conrad turns the story into a fairy tale. He delivers a message that if people stop dreaming and embrace life, wonderful and fantastical things will happen such as getting the girl and finding happiness. Which could be true but I had very little success after getting the same motivation from seeing the 2008 film Yes Man. The film is a complete work of fiction which in a sense is a dream, thus one could conclude it is basically a dream within a dream, dreamception.

I would say I have plenty of Walter Mitty's dreams, being heroic, brave, romantic and adventurous. Which will all come true as soon as I have to continuously work with one of my attractive co-workers and travel the world to track down a wandering photographer.

I have heard of it, and I would kinda like to see it! The only thing is that I haven't really heard anything really good about it. Whenever I ask people for their opinion on it, I basically just get the same answer each time: "Meh." :/

I really enjoyed the movie especially in the beginning when it is shown his problems to deal with real life issues as a result of his maladaptive daydreamings. Yes, in the second half of the movie it starts to loose its quality when it tries to show how easy it is to stop the daydreams when you start to live real life. I've never watched any movie related to daydreams, but I can say that it was very pleasant watching this movie. Although I have most of the problems that Walter does , I started to see it in another way. I know that it is not that easy to overcome our awkwardness, but seeing part of my problems in another perspective gave me motivation.

I did not watch it. When I saw the trailer, I had a feeling it would be just as you said, which made me decide against checking it out. I certainly embrace life, and  am finally very happy but that doesn't mean I suddenly have the opportunity or the means to travel the world, meet my soul mate and make friends with strangers who have incredible stories to tell. Plus I don't daydream out of boredom from a routine life, so I don't relate too much and the message is therefore only going to be inspiring for about ten seconds.

I read the short story for school but I haven't seen the movie. In the movie, do they actually flat-out say he has MDD or any disorder at all, do they deliberately imply it, or is he just depicted as some guy who daydreams a lot but would probably be diagnosed as MDD if he was a real-life person?
I think Walter Mitty Syndrome is different from Maladaptive Daydreaming Disorder.

I missed it unfortunately :-(
