When my MD is at it's worse, I have almost no control. This is when I have allot of negative DDs. But when I'm doing some better I can affect things. The themes and starting up of one seems totally out of my control. But sometimes I can stop something that is going down a negative path and make it turn to a better outcome.
I asked a MD friend earlier and he said he can "push" it in a direction but the settings and all just happen.
This varies for me depending on my mood. As you know I am a lucid dreamer and many of my practices involve visualizing and trying to create sensations so that I am able to have more control in a lucid dream. This usually means with enough mental focus I can sometimes put myself in a state where I can feel what's happening i.e I can create the sensation of a DD character touching me. My DD world is set in a very hot place and I can usually create the sensation of intense heat (even when it's absolutely freezing)
When I manage to reach this heightened state of consciousness or whatever I have a lot of control and can almost exist there. However if I'm depressed (which is the vast majority of the time) and unmotivated my awareness seems to plummet and at times I don't feel like I have any control of my DD world at all. Then it's like I'm watching a movie. Sometimes things I don't want to happen end up happening and it's very frustrating.
I am in complete control of everything that happens in my daydreams.
It varies. A lot.
