Its simply biology
Chemistry, Alchemy
But without its benevolent amnesty
It’s made to build us a dynasty
A dynasty of our own
Because carved in our bones are the words
Nobody wants to die
-die alone
It causes wars and cellular divisions
It causes collisions and hasty decisions
Depression, hallucinations, and painful incisions
That tampers with our temper and gives
Petty little visions
of what we are supposed to be, of how to be,
and how to feel
Pumpkin and lavender, mint and tobacco
a song painted red and black
a sweater you left behind
your favorite pick up line
It’s like heartburn, a bloody ulcer
An internal and external sore accompanied by
Heat that sifts into salty sweat that always tells a tale
Visions impaired, pupils dilated
Divided attention, privacy violated
No one’s exempt from the nasty libido
And nothing can fight it
It’s “bien Escondido”
Not karate, or Judo, or Ben or Jerry
Nor water that billows
Nor widows or pillows
And these pillows, they know all our secrets
Everything we whispered at midnight in vain
They’ve taken the burden, the stress, and the pain
The inner struggle of livid regrets
Into their case-for study
And the tear stained pillow always
Will comfort us with the reply that
Its simply biology
Chemistry, Alchemy
But without its benevolent amnesty
It’s made to build you a dynasty
