I get that real life doesn't look like our fantasies—but I'm angry, not particularly at that fact. What stirs me up is that I refused to be honest with myself for 40 years..that real life doesn't align with the fictional stories running in my mind. I did have faith that I can find a friend or partner who understands that this is who I am. But, I never managed to find someone whose stuck around to get to know me better, or accepted me, no matter what I do. The only person in my life who cares about me and knows that I tend to dream is my dad. But our relationship isn't perfect, and he has gotten pretty angry at me for drifting, when I should be attentive and listening. It's been the same way with everybody. But I've never met a person who is a non-blood who stayed by my side, especially guys.
