A therapist in your pocket! New mobile apps let you try DIY therapy. May sound like a bad idea, I mean of course finding a good therapist you can open up to would be the best. But if you are in a remote area, or financially unable to aford therapy, then this may be a good option.

There are many CBT (cognative based therapy) apps out there, some for a fee and some free. I decided to try one, I downloaded CBT diary for free. I don't know how much help it will be for my MD but maybe at least it will help with my anxiety. The councilor I did see had suggested CBT but the workbooks I found were very expensive. So I'm giving it a try.

I also downloaded a meditation app. I have been trying to start meditating but have a hard time finding a good time to do it, when hubby is not in the room, etc. And I can't sit for 20-30 min, I just can't. This app has a short 5 min meditation setting that I am starting with. It starts with a bell tole, then you can choose a background sound, I use rain, then it ends with a chime. I am doing it at my lunch hour each day to help start a habit. Not sure if I am doing it right, I focus on my breathing and the sound of the rain, when I start to DD I refocus on the breathing. I hope to progress to longer sessions but I think it is a good start.

great idea customizing the app to fit your MD monitoring.

Wow! I also do the exact same thing. My phone is all filled out with apps for stress relief, anxiety free tips, meditation, CBT diary, mood diary, concentration games, IQ tests, brain waves,etc...... Funny I have all these random beeps all over the day telling me to make a entry in my dairy.

Its kind of funny but by he end to the month you get like this cool graph that shows you your overall progress. And you kind of can switch the wording around in some of the apps and I add my main triggers to one category, my anxiety level for not DD, and my 1-10 rating on my DD compulsion. I get to see what works and what doesn't. I also have this alarm/to-do list that alerts me every hour on what i need to do and when i should finish so i wont loose track of time if i start Daydreaming. Its kind of cool and best of all its FREE!!!!!! =D

I don't have a phone that downloads apps, I could just try something else.

I would also like to try meditation. Ever since I stopped MDing I've had trouble trying to stop my brain from thinking so much. I need a way to clear my head when it gets cloudy. I'll look into meditation.
