I am starting to think that MD might be more common than we think it is, The first person and basically the only person I told about it, also DD's. And recently she told me about a Facebook "like" that said "Like if you make up stories in your head and you're the main character" or something along those lines. It was surprising. On the other hand though, you  can kind of tell when people don't have it. For example I am completely sure that nobody in my family has, especially when I told my mom and she said "everybody daydreams".

I'm just starting to think that a lot of people have MD to some extent.I think the reason it feels so abnormal or weird is because not many people share it or try to find out anything about it, for example  I have have had "severe" MD since the age of about 5-6, and I never thought about researching it until a few months ago.

I guess I was just so sure that nobody would be able to relate, yet there is a whole community dedicated to my "stupid habit".

I really can't wait until MD becomes more recognized by doctors and psychiatrists.

Absolutely, daydreaming in general is normal, but daydreaming followed by certain symptoms reported on so many places over the internet is kind of peculiar, although yes, it's not as nearly as concerning or even maladaptive as ours. However, the symptoms include include pacing, sense of control and power, need for isolation, acting out the daydreams, neglecting social relationship - to a small extent though but the symptoms are still there. I don't know if that is normal, maybe it is, and it's certainly not as severe as ours, I agree with you on that entirely. The people usually state they are able to control it, and that it doesn't mess up their real life, but also say that it's being slightly addictive.

I think it's common as well. While researching excessive daydreaming, I saw a bunch of people talk about symptoms we have on wide variety of forums. They all mention pacing, different triggers, amplified emotions when DD-ing, idealized versions of people and so on, and noone thinks it's abnormal. Probably because it's not as severe as ours.
