"Don't hide yourself in regret, just love yourself and you're set!"

So you're sitting in your room right now, on your laptop, smartphone; at work killing time; or in the library trying to write that paper that's due by midnight; anyways you're here, at this site, reading this blog post!

So you're here because at some point you realized that maybe you're day dreams were getting a little out of hand. Whether you're here to address a problem, be listened to, are curious about MD, or just what to celebrate with others the same as you; be joyous my friend this is the site to let your mind run free.

Over my last few weeks of becoming a member here I have been able to read and see many different point of view. Some, like myself enjoy our time spent with our heads in the cloud, in far off lands where kings rule, and the forces of nature clash; In Eisley's song called Brightly Wound the chorus exclaims; "I shall never grow up! Make believe is much too fun! Can we go far away to the humming meadow." However some who may enjoy the "safety" of their dreams find that this safe place, alternate world is detracting from their real lives.

I believe we can all conclude that we, by definition of MD tend to indulge in our worlds of make believe. Often leaving us to wonder if we are missing out on this "real" life. Further along in the lyrics of Brightly Wound, Eisley continues to sing about this fantasy land, "This place is so lovely, it kind of makes me very happy, let's go far away to the humming meadows." What makes this line very distinct is that it brings out the truth on how ever great our day dreams may be there is still a thought deep down inside that maybe my constant life in make believe is...only make believe. Yes my day dreams "kind of make me very happy..." but am I truly happy or is this my mind's way of masking my pain, guilt, shame, confusion, etc.

So MD what is it? Why do we do it? In my opinion MD is nothing more than a different wiring of the brain. As a science major the brain we all know is very complex!! So complex that even after decades of studying it we still have discovered very little and have so much more to uncover. I'll try to explain my reason as simple as possibly. Our minds are very deep and diverse; very slight differences can determine great differences for instance whether you're right handed or left, whether you're mathematically smart, or are very talented creatively. We're all different and so is the way the mind of MDers think, reason. (I'll skip my theories on why some are born maladaptive daydreamers/or why some progress into maladaptive daydreamers; I'm still forming a solid arguement LOL. Is MD one of the brain's defense mechanisms? Hmmmm!)

Any ways :) I say be content in who you are, whoever you are! I think sometimes while we're getting caught up in our own little worlds we become a little too self centered. We go in to our minds where there are people who love us! Who enjoy who we are! Defend and protect us! For some we become the perfect versions of ourselves! Beautiful, funny, talented, charismatic! When we come back to reality we may feel sad that we are not the character in our minds eye. This may lead to feelings of depression but I say fret not! Everything that our mind dreams can be possible. Life is what YOU make it! Every great plan started out as an idea! Every great person started out as a dream! There once was a great man who dreamed of a world where he and his fellow black brethren would be free from the bondage and oppression of the laws of inequality. Martin Luther King Jr. exclaimed on a very historic day "I have a dream!" infront of hundreds of thousands of people that still echoes in the very foundation of this country!

If you see something in your life that is less than what you want it to be I say rise up! You may being thinking "but it's not as easy as you may think" or "she has no idea what I'm going through". If everything was easy....well I'd have gotten an A in calculus by now LOL :) Everything is worth fighting for if you believe in your cause. You're not alone. You may say "no one is like me" or "no one understands". Well that is a lie! The world is too big and diverse for you to be a singularity, you may be rare but you are not alone! You're beautiful and creative! If you feel like you are trapped and in need of escape, speak up, blog, ask for advice! Isolation is the worst thing for an individual especially one harboring discouraging emotions! We were never meant to be alone.

When you feel like you're MD may be becoming to much and you're life dwindling slowly, don't be afraid because it's not the end. Open the blinds, take a walk, put yourself out there even though it may hurt at first! You must fight for your cause! Whether you've been hurt or see the world as lacking compared to your fantasy, don't be fooled because the world IS a beautiful place; filled WITH beautiful people who will care and love you! Defend and protect you!

For those who believe MD has gotten out of control, excluded you from life, pushing you deeper and deeper into yourself. Fight! Too much self thought will cause you to over examine yourself, maybe cause bad feelings towards oneself or others. Open up and live, because life you'll find out is BEAUTIFUL!

If you haven't heard lady gaga's hit single Born this Way you should; it's fabulous and uplifting. She makes many powerful statements such as "rejoice and love yourself today.......I'm on the right track baby, I was born to be brave!"

I don't know why I felt like I needed to convey this message but enjoy! This is just my opinion not only for MD but any obstacle someone may be facing. I personally have found the less I focus on my self and my "flaws" the happier I am. Cause seriously this life I live could be worse! :)

Thank you. I don't think MD should be something negative. Negative comments are depressing. If everyday all we said or thought about was "oh woe is me" then that's what you're going to get! Refuse to let your situation hold you back :]

I am not sure whether i have it to the extent that it qualifies for being called disorder. but during some periods i found myself thinking about something continously- non stop; going to bathroom, eating meals, getting ready to go for work.

Help: 3 ball juggling helped a lot in controlling the attention (to the desired task).

after 15 minutes of sustained juggling exercise next half an hour, i could see clear difference.

i hope it will help you too. If you think appropriate, pass it on to others.

I feel juggling has magical effect on brain's performance- it significantly improves the processing speed- must help everyone whether the person has MD or not.
