Maladaptive Daydreaming: where wild minds come to rest
On top of my Maladaptive Daydreaming, I also have really bad Misophonia. A couple of other people on here have mentioned having a sensitivity to sounds, so I thought I'd share this article. Misophonia is an extreme hatred of certain sounds. Personally, I get really angry when I hear someone eating or chewing gum. I think it's revolting to hear or watch someone chewing anything with his or her mouth open. I wish I could outlaw gum-chewing. I refuse to be around people when they're eating. I'd rather eat alone forever than ever hear anyone smacking again. It's that bad. I'm not looking for any advice on this, so please don't give me any. I don't like advice. Feel free to share your reactions to the article or experiences, though. I wish more people knew about this because I've been judged horribly because of it. I was constantly screamed at for getting upset at the terrible table manners around me as a kid. It's not fair. It's not our fault, and we can't control it. Plus, the fact that I'm extra sensitive to it doesn't make it any less rude. Chewing with one's mouth open is still terrible manners, regardless of my extra sensitivity.
Anyway, here's the article. I hope people find it useful.
