Maladaptive Daydreaming: where wild minds come to rest

I feel like you.
I suppose everyone with an addiction or pulsion out of control would feel shame.
But I think it is not bad. Shame, pain, or whatever you feel are useful to change your live your attitude and your live.
YES! i feel so creepy and weird sometimes
especially that i use celebrities/people for my characters looks
what if they found out? they would be so creeped out
i try not to think about that
Furthermore, sick is a very strong word. I prefer to think of myself as a Thinking Artist........ I mean, what if Walt Disney NEVER day dreamed?!
We are So Not Freaks! I think the freaks are those who live in this world and don't dd. I mean, it just sucks!
We are no stranger than the average person, I believe. In the past, I also felt like a psycho/freak because I were unable to hide my MD. This is far from the truth! Every person has strange characteristics, and usually hide them, because others don't know how to react to these. They are quick to react and judge, not looking at their own mirror. For example, in my 25 yrs of life I've seen several deranged psychos, many types of addicts, people who are mentally sick to the point of harming themselves and others (even abusing pregnant women of their family), pedos, sadists, religious/ political/sport freaks that may kill because of their leader/team, and many more. Most of these people would be quick to call you maniac/weirdo. The opinion of others is just an opinion, it doesn't mean they always have the right to judge (I used some extreme examples, but you understand what I want to say).
The truth is, we are no-lifers, at least in regards to reality-but we have a very rich inner life. Quite a few "normal" friends of mine were jealous of this, because they wished they could do it too, as they felt too trapped inside reality. Also, we know our choice is a lie, which is a very important thing as we know where we stand.
No we're NOT freaks and you're not alone. This is a fairly new site and check out how many of us are here! Our minds just work a little differently than average - who wants to be "average" anyway? (It's extremely over-rated) When I was a teen and feeling very self-conscious, my dad used to tell me not to worry about what other people thought, but rather what choices I made and how I lived my life was what was really important. Some of the most creative and brilliant people in history were seen as "weird" by their peers or family - like Van Gogh or Einstein. JK Rowling reported being "different and a loner" as a teen - Don't know if any of these people were DDer's, but I wouldn't be shocked if they were. Not everyone is a born writer, artist, or scientist, but where would the rest of the world be without us dreamers? And don't worry about someone climbing inside your head to make judgements about you -they can't get in unless you invite them. But if it really worries you, try putting the shoe on the other foot : they would be just as uncomfortable if you could see their deepest secrets and daydreams, even if they aren't MDDers.
