Maladaptive Daydreaming: where wild minds come to rest
I start daydreaming as soon as i wake up most mornings. it's like i go through periods of being able to go right back to sleep after waking up to not being able to go back to sleep after waking up.
A week ago i would go to bed at 12 midnight and sleep until 7am-7:30am. And then my mom had to go to work around 7am so she'd be up at 6:30am and she'd wake me up with all the noise she made.
now its like i cant even sleep until 7am. i keep waking up at 6:30am-ish…
ContinueDoes anyone here have pets? If you do, do you think you daydream as much when your pet is around (assuming it's a dog or cat) or less?
If you don't have a pet like a dog or a cat, do you want one? If you do, do you think you'd daydream less if you had a dog or a cat or something to play with and take care of?
I ask because ever since I was 6 years old I've asked my parents for a dog and i'm 17 yrs old and I still haven't gotten 1. Not even a cat. My mom doesn't like…

Just wanted to let you guys know that cutting out music has helped reduce my daydreaming a lot. Well like 30%, which consisted of my main continous daydream. Up until yesterday i had went about 13 days without listening to my mp3player.
I realized listening to music on a stero is better for me than listening to it in earbuds/earphones. When i listen to it in earphones it's like going directly to my brain LOL. Anyhoo during that week if music was playing in the car or anywhere else…

How do i "break up" with a specific daydream i've been having for like years? I'll admit it's a Harry Potter daydream lol. But it's gotten so boring lately. Like i've literally done every storyline i ould think of. There's nothing more to daydream about in that world anymore. And yet it's hard to escape it. Sometimes it's the first thing i think about when i wake up.
I have 3 major storylines, one including myself disguised as…

Ok, so i've been having "Harry Potter" related daydreams for years now. I of course have other types of daydreams, but HP has been the one consistent daydream that i just can't seem to shake. I went without watching the movies, reading the books AND looking up HP stuff on the computer for around 6 to 7 months straight.
When i was without it, i felt good and bad at the same time, you know? Like i was happy that i was pushing through, but on the other hand i was still daydreaming…

I just saw "Les Miserables" last night. OMG. I have been like in grieving ever since i saw it. It is so emotional and powerful and yes i cried like 3 times.
I cannot stop listening to Anne Hatheaways "I Dreamed A Dream". Now all my Daydream characters and me are sad and crying and all emotional and depressed, LOL.
This is really a powerful and great film, once in a lifetime movie to see in theaters maybe, but i DO NOT recommend any of us on this site to see…

Ok so 10 minutes ago i was shredding papers because my mom had asked me to. As i was shredding, iwas daydreaming about a stressful situation that i have been currently in for the past few days and what i would do if worst comes to worst.
I accidently left my left hand on the papers too long and the paper and the shredder sucked/dragged my pinkie finger down into the shredder!!!! Luckily, i reacted quickly and pulled my finger out.
But it hurt!! and i can still feel the pressure…

Hey guys. i'm kind of new here so let me tell you about myself a little.
I'm 16, and i've had a horrible childhood. As a kid, about 6yrs old, i used to daydream a lot but not the maladaptive daydreaming type. Like i would act it out with my friends. And then i started watching movies, live action ones not cartoons, and i started daydreaming about them but only for like a few months and then i would get over it.
Around age 11, my life was going downhill fast (health issues, low…
