Maladaptive Daydreaming: where wild minds come to rest
I don't want to jump to conclusions and think that most people with MD are totally introverted like I am. So I'm curious to know what your personality type is. Apparently, I'm an INTP, but I can't say that I love mathematics. The part about me venturing deep down into thought as to seem detached is the most accurate, and I suppose I'm very analytical and sensitive when it comes to certain things. The test is long; maybe you know a better one, or you can just tell what personality type you are by looking.

Thanks for that :)
But I think maybe I did the test wrong then? as I like to keep an open mind for almost anything, and consider all possibilities
But who knows,
but thanks anyways.
@Ethan Browne. Looking at your scores, I would say, that either your personality is still forming or you took at excessive exerice to change yourself and succeeded. The preferences for Thinking (T) and Judging (J) are very low, so you seem to have a perfect balance between your mind and heart, as well as between action and theory.
"Judging" is not related to judgement about people or events. High J score signifies preference for action, 80/20 solutions, asking yourself constantly "does it work (at least for me)?", overall discipline and preference to moving forward vs. considering many solutions to find a perfect one.
There is a psychological joke about the difference between J-type and P-type. Two small kids were asked, how much "2+2" was. J-type kid answered without hesitation: "Five". The teacher asked: "Are you sure?" The kid replied: "Almost sure. It's more or less five". P-type kid was thinking for some time and answered: "Four". The teacher asked: "Are you sure?" The kid replied: "No". This is it. J-type is about 80/20 (the kid wasn't really far from the right answer) and trusting your intuition. P-type is about considering many possibilities.
Sorry, if it sounds arrogant. I'm a distinctive INTJ, we're arrogant but trying to be nice and helpful :)
woops, just took the test and it looks like I'm actually an INFP! which is interesting. it said this when talking about relationships "INFPs lean strongly to daydreams, poetry, prose and more philosophical pursuits;"
Nice :)
I think it's normal that a lot of us have different personality types. We have a wide variety of people on the site, and daydreaming serves us all differently.
@Elude I was beginning to think I was the only one who didn't dream about really fantastical scenarios. Though mine are definitely more exaggerated than real life, I do focus on real life scenarios. My fantasy world is a big family that keeps expanding. Often my scenarios are really banal.
Anyway, as with everything, I would take it with a grain of salt. It's who we are, it's just a personality test. I've taken dozens over the years, and the results will probably keep evolving as I evolve. Who knows what mine will say in 10 years? I'm sure my answers would've been different 10 years ago.

I used to hate the fact that I scored as an INFP.
INFP's are romantic-minded and idealistic....society often looks down their nose and laughs at these qualities.
But think about what apathetic under-acheivers we'd all be if no one dreamed. I think dreaming is important and totally nessesary, just like any other quality.
