Just a quick post to raise awareness of this condition. People who have it tend to struggle with really high levels of fantasy/daydreaming. It is Nothing to do with hyperactivity. Many people who have it also have slow cognitive tempo(sct) and struggle to get out of bed in the morning and do housework. Many people struggle with driving etc because they cant focus. More women than men have it and many are only being diagnosed now because all the  focus was on the hyperactive form of the condition up to now. Most women are very shocked when they are diagnosed because they never dreamed they could have a form of add.(Its a subtype) Its called Primarily inattentive add and here is a good forum to learn all about it. www.addforums.com

PS Dont dismiss it because its add-its not the type portrayed in the media.

I am PI- ADD but I don't know that is has anything to do with daydreaming too much. I'm not sure enough research has been done to link the two.

ADD- inattentive type? I don't know.

I was diagnosed with this... condition 4 years ago. My therapist at the time didn't hesitate to start me on a class A drug that is chemically related to speed. As you might guess, it is addictive.....I had to stop taking it once the Adderall started to give me heart palpitations. Please, stay away from this chemical. I will write about why in more detail later. ....

Being doubtful of ADD/ADHD, I have always been curious about the people who identify fully with the label.

I've noticed that every personal account of  ADD and ADHD that I've ever read has one common thread running through them: all of these people are creative in some way. I do not mean that they are all painters or musicians, although this holds true for many of them....I'm saying that these people "think outside the box", and have a kind of creative energy surging through them which can often be chaotic, and can cause thoughts to leap and jump ahead of themselves. Creative people are sensitive, and sensitive people notice all the details of life that other people don't value as important. Hence the label "attention deficit disorder" which can be translated from psychspeak into....  "i am the teacher, and you are not paying attention to me".
