Many western and eastern religions speak of the importance of being in the moment.  Call it mindfulness being aware of God's presence in all things.  How do you reconcile any spiritual life/faith you have with daydreaming?  This is an ongoing discussion I have with God. I've reconciled by always, always being present around my children and grandchildren.  And be saying daydreaming reduces anxiety which makes me kinder.  Since I do attend a church regularly (liberal),  I've occasionally taken my daydream there.  Characters seemed amused but not hostile.

I think this is a great idea.  I'm glad you shared.

I don't do that per se because I pray so much, but I see how it can be a very useful tool.

Also, the idea of having conversations with people or beings you have something to say to in your mind can be very therapeutic.  For example, if someone really irritated me in the outer world but I was too shaken to adequately defend myself, I would have that situation replay in my fantasy world.  My character or her family would go find that person and defend her.  They would explain in a thoughtful manner exactly what I would've said had I been less shaken.  This has been very helpful because I allowed myself to think my arguments through more.  I'm such an anxious person in the outer world that I still have trouble, but I definitely think on my feet better.  I defend myself better, if not always that great in person.

I can see lots of ways this could translate into a useful tool for us daydreamers to try.  Great idea.  Thanks for sharing.

C.S. Lewis once wrote that "Most people don't believe in heaven in quite the same way they believe in Australia."  When I'm daydreaming, sometimes I believe in heaven the same way I believe in Australia.  Does anyone else sometimes feel this way?  My faith in God is very important to me.  I've had visions that are different from daydreaming.  Can anyone else relate to this?  -- Cindy

sounds familiar.   There are a lot of mindfulness practices that encourage one to seek peace by being in the moment; being aware of your surroundings, the presence of others, the connection.  I have a hard time doing that in a fantasy; I admire your ability to bring that presence into your conversation.

I very much love the catholic saints & often have conversations with them, which I find very helpful, especially since they specialize in different areas.  I can consider how ethical, compassionate, beneficial, etc. an action would be.  I know it's me providing the dialogue, but I think sometimes I am inspired by their presence.

Anything that has an impact of being more ethical, compassionate or beneficial must  have a touch of the holy in it.

I'm glad you are touched by the sacred in your life.
