I just thought of something that's been bugging me. When I was a kid, I daydreamed a lot, but it was never as obtrusive or as bad at it has been for me in the past couple of years. I wasn't a normal kid, but I wasn't as weird as I am now either. I was pretty well-functioning, I guess. My fantasies didn't really take over my life and get out of my control until high school. I found online that the symptoms of depression, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder usually start as people get to be around my age (18) or a little younger or older. Has anyone else noticed that their daydreaming, fantasizing, etc. got much more intense as they entered young-adulthood?

Hormones in teenage years do fuel MDDs. As you move into your 20s you will see a noticeable difference n your patterns.

Mine did I think because I was so awkward in high school and especially the last year of middle school. Also after I was being bullied and none of the teachers did anything about it, it got really hard for me and I went to the hospital and no one really did anything to help me besides breathing techniques and then I shut down and now I day dream every time I think of a thought and emotional distress. Not sure how to stop the triggers because they always happen to me .

Might mostly started increasing around 13 and slowly and steadily increased from there. (Now 17) I think they started getting hard to deal with around 12 13, 14 ish.

My DDs certainly have not gotten more intense, but because what I'm now doing is what I choose rather than what was handed to me, the interruptions have greater impact.

My fantasizing was just as intense as during childhood and middle school.

I'd have to say no. I think they were always pretty intense and that it was always my favorite pastime. I will say that once I entered young adulthood, moved out, and graduated HS, I had more time and space to indulge myself.
