Maladaptive Daydreaming: where wild minds come to rest
Well, I saw my GI doc, and he finally provided some answers to what’s been going on. He said my chart was an interesting read. He thinks my liver failure was perhaps the result of a blood clot in the liver, which was perhaps the result of my surgery, or it could be a reaction to something they gave me in the hospital like the anesthesia. He’s certain it’s nothing I did or took. He’s also certain it’s a surgical complication. The only part of that I question is how I might have gotten blood clots when I was only in the hospital overnight. Anyway, at least he has an opinion he’s certain of, and he is a liver specialist, after all. All my other docs did (and I saw many) was just throw out random guesses. The only thing they were sure of was that it was Tylenol, but of course that proved not to be the case. He stressed over and over how close I came to death and that it’s pretty much a miracle that I’m alive. If Michael and Roz hadn’t come knocking on my door, it’s certain I would have died. He said both the liver failure and the blood clots in the lung can be deadly, so I’m really lucky to be alive. At least I have some answers. He said my liver is fine and that my clots are improving, so there’s nothing to worry about there. I’ll have to take the Warfarin for some more months, but that’s no big deal. He didn’t recommend doing any more tests or anything “interesting” as he put it. Plus, he said I can’t while taking the Warfarin, anyway. I figured as much. I see a doc at the clinic tomorrow, but I don’t know what there is left to discuss. He said the medication she put me on will probably do more harm than good, so I should stop taking it.
Now, for the frustrating part. He didn’t have any miracle solution to the constant burping that plagues me every time I try to eat or drink anything. He said that the area that was operated on is swollen, so it’s natural that I’m having trouble swallowing. He thinks the burping is connected to that. He said I’ll have both problems until my body adjusts to how it is now, which could last up to 6 months. Ugh. 6 months of not being able to swallow food I used to love and CONSTANTLY burping! How frustrating and horribly irritating.

MatthewR, that's what I thought after my Appendicitis.......but I was wrong. I've had 3 life-threatening emergencies within the past year. Yikes. I hope nothing more happens.
Michelle, it's frustrating, but I'll live. I'm just glad to finally have an explanation about my liver.....one that doesn't involve Tylenol that I didn't take.
