Maladaptive Daydreaming: where wild minds come to rest
When I think, I live in parallel universe, I wonder, what is going around in their heads. And I think, that this world would be dull without such people.
My friend Dorota. According to her, she's a Viking princess. Nobody knows, why Dorota studied economics (she was actually good in it). Most of the time she was in Middle Ages. Dorota made / bought Medieval dress and jewelery as you have to be dressed properly for Viking parties.
My dad's friend Wiktor. He's a recognized construction worker and (not yet) recognized healer. Wiktor has always knew about his extraordinary abilities, waiting for the right moment to save the world. But his super powers were recognized only last summer, when he guessed the disease of one old lady. It's not hard to guess, what he's thinking (and often talking) about, when at work. Unfortunately, his wife and friends are so down-to-earth, that they prefer doctors with diploma. But Wiktor knows: the right moment will come.
My collegue Krystian. The wolrd would be dull without such people. He's a day-dreamer. Krystian claims to write a scipt about aliens, who conquered the planet earth. One famous director wanted to buy it. We never saw it and Krystian doesn't want to share details (competition doesn't sleep!). But we believe him. He also claims to win a rock'n'roll competition, when he was at secondary school. We know, he's lying. But we don't care. Importantly, Mr Krystian married a girl in her late teens, 10 years younger than him. They have perfect understanding. Their marriage has become a sitcom to discuss at lunch, often in Krystian's presence (well, at least, his body is present and is eating). We're joking about this (yeah, even people reporting to him), he's joking about this, we all laugh, and we love him. The Lord rewarded this guy with out-of-the box thinking. So much out of the box, that we don't get the point most of the time. We make sarcastic comments and laugh. Then he explains, but we still don't get the point. Then he laughts with us. Then he explains again. We pretend, we got it, and laugh together.
My mom's collegue, Mikolaj, a teacher of phylosophy. He claims, that we originated from dolphins. Mikolaj either doesn't know anything about phylosophy, or he hides it so well, that no-one can learn phylosophy from him. He believes, that his method of teaching is right, because you can learn about Aristoteles and Plato from books, the added value of his lectures is awakening students' minds. He knows, the students laugh at him, but, well, Socrates also suffered. This man showed at me, asking: - Who is this? - Me. - Do you have any document with you? - Yeah. (Putting his finger on the photo in my documents) - Then who is this? - Also me. - Whom do you see in the mirror? - Myself. Ok, I’m already intrigued. What's the point? (Silence). I still know don't, what he wanted to say.
Ex sales department head Richard (found a better job). Man, we miss you and your joyful poetry. Richard wouldn't make a career in sales, if his negotiations were as advanced as his poetry. But he loved poetry, and he produced it with higher frequency than Lady Gaga changes her clothes. For meetings Richard was writing poems about each of five sales teams, and sometimes also about general management. It rarely rhymed, it rarely had rythm... let's be true to ourselves... it wasn't good. But it was funny. He wrote odes for teams, which delivered the target, and "tomorrow will be better" verses for other teams.

Wow, I really envy you - I have feeling, that most of the people I know has no "identity". I like people, who have some kind of passion or goal in their lives - something, that describes them in one, two words, something everybody knows about them (in a good way). And when I think about it - there are just a few people that I know well and who fit to this description. And that makes me feel even more isolated from this world...
