Maladaptive Daydreaming: where wild minds come to rest
So I was sitting at the bus stop when something as innocent as a bus advertisement turned the tide of my daydreams. The ad was for Carolina Performing Arts. What particularly caught my interest was the picture of a violinist, who looks startlingly similar to my main daydream character. It was like someone had literally grabbed him out of my head and put him on the side of a bus (with a pretty violin)! I just stared...stared...and stared like a creepy woman until the bus left. When I got home, I immediately searched for the Carolina Performing Arts website and found the exact same picture!
Joshua Bell (American Grammy Award-winning violinist)
Unfortunately, this is the only photo of him that closely resembles my character at all. But even still, I'm so happy that I found it for simply being at the right place at the right time! After all, it's very hard to find celebrity look-alikes of original characters. As I read more about him, I also found that he participated in an interesting social/perception experiment organized by the Washington Post, where he played the violin in the D.C. Metro Station. Despite that he is one of the world's most talented violinists, having just sold out a theater a couple days prior to the experiment, only six people stopped to listen and he collected $32. Amazing...
In November, he is going to perform at my former university. Imagine that, watching your character play violin live! At least, he'd look that way from a distance. Hopefully he won't change his hair style too much. =P In the meantime, he really inspired my character to become a violinist, so I'm going to have a lot of fun with that scenario! *puts violin music on repeat*

I heard about him once, and that he barely earned any money in the subway, yet can get hundreds for an hour of playing.
@DustyRose For Early Childhood, we had to go to a preschool for a day and it was pretty mag, but I was quite shocked to fond a teacher had the exact same name as my character! (Karla) Ii'm sure it is a real name that others had, but the closest in about 4 or 5 years I had come to seeing her name was a girl called Karlee. So yeah, kinda strange, but cool. And since I got a character called Jake, I swear I've seen his name bleedin' everywhere!
Haha that is really interesting!! Must be crazy to see someone who looks so close to your character.
Probably the closest thing that happened to me was yeeears ago, when I went to high school, there was a girl named Bess who had a similar face as my main character of the time. Then the same year I saw the "Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants" movie and it was the first time I'd seen Alexis Bledel, who also bore a strong resemblance to my character of the time, I was like whoaaa o.o.
Another thing I've noticed is when a new character has an unusual name, I start to see their name everywhere (movie credits, media etc.) that I never noticed before and start to think it's a strange coincidence.
