Maladaptive Daydreaming: where wild minds come to rest
Well, it's been a crazy day over here. Grendel went in for his surgery early this morning. Then, I got a call that Mia's UA results were back, and she has a UTI which requires expensive meds, which she hates. Then, she had another problem and had to go to the vet and get another medication. I picked up all 3 of her meds at the same time and gave them to her when we got home. She's been sluggish all day and not too happy with me. She hissed at me when I walked by her a few minutes ago. She'll be on her meds for 4 days for one, 5 days for another, and a week for the third. Then, she has to get another UA in 2 weeks to see if the UTI is gone, which I really hope it will be as I can't afford more expensive meds.
Grendel's home and glad to be here. The surgery went well, and the vet said he's a very sweet boy. For some reason, he's good at the vet but naughty at home. Lol. He will be on meds, as well. I'm afraid my poor kitties will not be very happy with me over the holidays with all these icky meds they have to take. I'm still glad to have them home and on the mend. I love my babies so much.
Thanks for all your love and support.
Happy holidays.

I've never been able to get them to take pills. Impossible. Mia started out with frequent poop issues that required a fairly inexpensive med that she hates, but it tended to work. That used to happen all the time. Then, it got better for a while. Now, it's happened twice this month alone, and the vet said it could happen more and more as she gets older. She's about 4.5 years old right now. He was so sure it would happen again that he gave us 10 refills on it. Ugh. She hates having her butt wiped, and she hates taking the med, but it works. I'm figuring out how to get her to take her meds. I keep telling her they'll make her feel better. She seems to be in a better mood this afternoon.
Well, fortunately things went a bit better this morning. I couldn't get either of them to take their pain meds. I got Grendel's mouth open, but when I tried to squeeze it into his mouth, he moved his head, and it went on the floor. When I tried to give Mia hers, somehow it ricocheted off her mouth and flew back in my face. I did manage to get her to swallow her antibiotics, though. I gave her the expensive one first, then praised her, petted her, and waited a minute before giving her her second one. I'm going to keep trying this tactic and pray for the best. She really needs to get well.
Thanks. Yeah, the meds are liquids, but the problem is Mia has to take 3, and she spits them up. They cost $90 total, so I need her to swallow them, so they can work! I can't afford to buy more if they don't work. Ugh. Suggestions are welcome.
A site member who's helped me in the past just donated enough money to cover the rest of my bill and Mia's follow-up UA. Yay! If the meds don't work, and she needs more, I'll have to pay for those, but this is a big help. I hope the meds will work. :)
