Out with the old, and in with the new?

from what i know i think i lot of us, in our daydreams, have

-main characters (whether you imagine them or pretend you actually are them)

-other characters

-a plot/storyline in your daydreams (an ongoing one, or one that is frequently changed)

all of which are inspired/influenced/triggered from time to time by things like movies, tv programmes and stuff, is that right?

well i was wondering, has anyone ever kept up the same characters and same sort of storyline for years and years, then suddenly (or gradually) changed the characters completely and invented a whole different and new daydream, leaving the old daydream behind? or maybe that how some of you usually daydream and do that all the time?

just 'cause i'm finding myself in that situation and wondered if any of you guys have.

i discovered this new character who i'd love to put in my daydream, but i've tried it and thought about it and the only way it would really work is if i left my old daydream story and thought of a new one. but that means leaving EVERYTHING about it behind, and creating pretty much a whole new world. in a way i was getting tired of my old characters and the old storyline but i think i would miss it, they've been part of me for probably about 6 years now.

i feel kinda bad asking questions like this, 'cause there are some of you who really want to lessen your md to improve your life, etc (tbh i wish i could do that too) and i'm just whining about how my daydreams might change.

but yeah, if anyone can understand what i mean and can relate to this,  thankyou :}

My DD changed lots since I began, but I've only gotten rid of two characters that had been established, but they're still mentioned sometimes, and some kids/grandkids are around so I guess in a way they're not fully gone...

I've changed the storyline lots, I mean I didn't really have much of a storyline when I was younger, I just had or was Karla and had different scenes and scenarios, usually fight ones. And I/Karla didn't always one but we never died either. Often I did the fight scene with me being Karla, then I ended up going and helping her when she was hurt. Only just realized that, actually. But yeah, I now have a very different storyline to the types I sort of started getting a few years back, but still the same characters, and a few more. I never really got rid of any characters though, and I've not a damn clue how people can keep starting new story lines with new characters, because my characters are like friends and I couldn't leave them!

Hey there:)
Wow, this is really interesting to me...I didn't think that was possible. If I tried that, I would get too emotional to follow through with it. You seem to be completely right about what you said at the beginning; I know I have talked to people and they said the same thing. I could totally relate. But no worries; I'm pretty sure you're not the only one who does this. :)
