Maladaptive Daydreaming: where wild minds come to rest
i have had the same daydream story for a little over two years, and i've found that only two of my characters are completely original- looks-wise and personality-wise. all of my other characters are based on celebrities, people in movies or books, or (rarely) people i know in real life. i feel like this makes me less creative than most MDers. i know that i'm way more creative than the average person-- i mean, i have an entire imaginary world inside my head, i'd be stupid to think that i'm not creative. but do any of you have daydreams with characters that you didn't completely make up?
i think that my daydream is pretty unique because it takes place over a long period of time. like... it starts out when the main characters are teenagers and then it goes to when the main characters' children are teenagers, and the children become the new main characters and the old main characters are less involved in the daydream.
i have:
there are lots more but you get what i mean. only a few are completely original.
my absolute favorite character who i think about the most is actually not the character who is based on me. he's a guy, and his looks are loosely based on a celebrity (whenever i say that a character's looks are loosely based on someone, i mean that they look just like the person but for example the character has glasses and the real person doesn't, the real person has a tattoo and the character doesn't etc.) and his personality is loosely based on several different people's personalities but mostly i made up his personality. i made up the situations that he gets himself into, just like i do with all of my characters. for some reason i daydream about him more than any other character. you'd think i'd daydream the most of one of the characters that are based off of me, but i don't. his mother is the first character that's based on me (like i said before, my daydream takes place over a long period of time, so when i say that she's based on me, i mean the teenage version of her is based on me, since i'm a teenager. that probably doesn't make sense but whatever) and his girlfriend is the other character that's based on me.
questions for anyone who actually read this super long blog:

Oh interesting post~! :3 That's really neat how your new characters are children of your old characters. It's like you have a DD family tree lol. My characters never age, and I've been daydreaming about the same ones for years! x_x And they're gay, so no children anyway lol. Well, once in awhile they adopt a child, but I don't find the child to be more interesting than my main characters. Just used as a plot device until I hit the reset button.
1. In my main daydream, I have 4 original characters and 1 real person. That one person is Tank (Marcus Chong) fromThe Matrix. I dunno why but he just makes a great villain! He's always trying to hurt my lead characters. I changed his name to Mark. xD
2. The other way around. I have a daydream where I'm the main character, but I'm based off of a fictional character. My best friend and assistant is the youtube celebrity, Michael Buckley from What the Buck?!. I don't even watch his videos much, but his looks and persona just fit the character.
Some years later, I discovered an anime character who looks JUST like the way I envisioned myself. Now I'm cosplaying in her outfit lol.
1. Pretty much only my main characters close group of friends are fully made up (there's about 5 of them) but other than that I've used looks and personalities from musicians, celebrities and, even some people who make videos on Youtube ( some of those Youtubers have great personalities). I've never really fully taken someone and put them in my dream, I always change them (to a point) to fit the story.
2.Yes he is, only he is... the person I wish I were (or something like that) hahaha xD
Oh and BTW, your dream sounds great and it sure blows mine away creativity wise haha.
