Hello,
I just recently found this site when I was trying to look up information, in regards to my daydreaming. I haven't been officially diagnosed with MD, so I hope that it's okay that I have joined. However, all the information I've seen so far about MD seems to reflect what I've been dealing with since early childhood. It was something of a relief, to be honest, to finally find information and a place where others deal with this.
I've improved a little over the last few years, in how much I daydream during the day. I don't really allow myself to daydream at college, so it doesn't act negatively on my schoolwork for the most part. I'm more of a textbook smarts kind of person, than a common sense one anyway. ^^; I love to learn about many subjects, so I don't get easily bored during lectures.
I try not to daydream in public, due to it being really physically obvious when I am. I do tend to go over scenarios in my head far more than I should, or flip through memories, and have to watch it when doing activities that rely on muscle memory. It's easier for me to start drifting into a daydream if my brain isn't really engaged. Sleep can also be a hassle, since I daydream when I hit the hay. Sometimes it helps me crash, other times I toss and turn for hours because my brain won't shut up for a few.
On another note, I also am an art major- I've just started working on my BFA for Studio Arts: Art History sub-plan. I find my art (whether I'm drawing, writing, painting, taking photos, etc) acts as a sort of focus for me. Hence, doodling during a lecture instead of daydreaming. :D
Anyways, I hope to be able to talk with others on here and see how other people deal with this. I hope everyone is having an excellent week!
