Ever thought of the consequences or effects MDD has on your life. It can really effect your life in a major way you can't imagine. Preventing MDD at it starts should be one of the steps anyone should take as he/she comes to know about it. Many people don't even know about this disorder and there aren't many preventing measures for it. MDD really changes your life. I am also suffering from MDD and I didn't knew about it for the first year. It really impacted my life. It created a lot of feelings for the characters in my Day dreams (the characters were my real life friends) even they didn't cared about me. So it used to hurt me a lot but when I researched about the disorder I started caring less but that didn't cured the mdd. I used to daydream about my future. Building up stories, having conversations with the characters in the stories and a lot of other stuff. Seems wierd when you open up but you gotta open up, face the reality at some point. Indulging in activities reduces mdd but doesn't ends it. You daydream when you sit idle without having people around you. So the best eay to reduce mdd is by being around people for most for your time and the people that support you the best are your family. Opening up to your family may also help reduce mdd. Mdd has some positive effects too. I day dreamed so much that when I was having an important conversation with somebody or I was in a situation I knew what to say or do. What I mean to say is it prepares you for situations and if you are creative you can get a lot of ideas of what to do in your life. I have had many ideas and I am pursuing one. But whatever it is I still am not able to cure it. You may take a very strong initiative that you won't daydream but the next moment you may be daydreaming, triggered suddenly. You can't do anything about it but you sure can kill the trigger. Stop doing activities which triggers it like listening to music is a common trigger, reading books, spending a lot of time in the bathroom, sitting idle. Try to indulge yourself in activities as much as possible that might cure the disorder or might not.

Hello my friend! I know exactly how you feel. I've had Maladaptive Daydreaming since i can remember, I tried Meditation, writing my dreams, exercise, yoga, ocd and adhd drugs....

they just reduced it a bit. i really wanted to stop it but it seems like AN ADDICTION TO ME! BTW I'm sure it can be treated.

MD is pretty serious. However, it isn't necessarily ALL bad. I'm writing a book based on my daydream storyline; I wouldn't have been able to come up with the story without MD. On a more serious (and slightly disturbing) note, if it wasn't for MD I probably would have gotten some other mental illness--I had a bad childhood and MD helped me cope. Ironically, my MD is, and has almost always been, what's keeping me sane.

I do agree that we should try to raise awareness, though. Even though MD isn't negative for some people, it is for most.
