Here's an except from our book and a concept drawing done by Gethin.
I remember the day I pulled on my first Canaan kit. It was number 47, Alain Plante. It still fit Gabe, he just felt bad for me and figured it would cheer me up. It was the most perfect shade of purple I had ever seen. A deep royal colour accented with two golden yellow stripes striking through the chest. The number and Plante’s name were a crisp white on the back. It looked like it had never been worn before, like Gabe had turned it over to me as soon as he got it. As I dragged it over my head the striking red collar tugged my ears and the tag scratched my neck. In that moment I was no longer the miserable eight-year-old, whose mum died and dad abandoned. I was Alain Plante: world class footballer, with fans all over the world; the guy who would shoot 20 yards out and score every time; the French international who had never received a red card his entire professional career. I played every day with that kit on. Plante was The King of CFC and I was The King of Harrison’s School for Boys. Ok, maybe not the king, but at least The Little Prince.
