Hello everyone, I have an interesting question that I am not sure if anyone has found this to be true: but is DD a genetic problem? Recently I spoke to my mother about  this issue to come to find that not only she, but just about all of my siblings have DD as well. My youngest brother has it very badly, to the point where he can be in public and clearly is in another world, laughing to himself and moving his mouth silently. It is very embarrassing. However, according to my motehr, even my grandmother used to do it. To my mom, she feels its perfectly normal to imagine things and interact with ideas in your head, which I beg to differ. Has anyone else found this to be true in their families as well?

I'm not sure but I think my mom has it. I remember when i was little she was in her bedroom a lot I walked in a couple of times and saw her with the headphones in her ears and singing and laughing. Could be that she just really liked to have some time away from me and jam. ? But I doubt it because sitting for hours at the time  in front of the same picture with the headphones playing the same songs over and over is exactly what I do.

I agree with 100%. In my opinion I feel like there is a gene that is being passed on from my paternal grandfather. I did not know him but I have been told of the countless stories of him spacing out for long periods of time. Now my mother, brother, and myself have a hard time being part of reality and simply focusing on tasks.

Thinking my father might have been. He has the same fascination with books that I have. Or the other around.....whatever.
He could read his SciFi/Fantasy novels with the TV blaring and mentally unstable wife screaming at two rowdy, obnoxious kids wrestling at his feet.
I always envied that.
My mother is a multiple and spent, for most of my childhood at least, alone in a dark room.

interesting! I wonder if this was ever taken into account for research...
