i have tried it.it worked kind of.im not sure that you will see it that way though as it certainly didnt stop me dding.i dont know if you know much about cbt so quick eplanation.
it goes of the idea that thoughts affect our feelings and feelings affect our behavour,that then affects our thoughts..............vice versa,round and round etc.....
they didnt help me stop dding they just tried to change how i thought of my dding.ie.change the guilt,that its odd,i ought not do it etc.....it worked m0re on helping my self esteem to be honest and that not everybody is the same.i did work kind of as im now more confident,dont worry as much about my md,so inturn dont do it as much or not as intensly or something.either way its not the end of the world anymore,believe me ive got bigger problems,lol.
oh they also tried to get me to channel it more healthily,am dramatics etc.....hope i helped.
