I can't DD right now. I don't know why. My newest characters just aren't going anywhere. They're getting too generic, too hard to manage, if you know what I mean. I miss the old generation of characters! But I don't know, I used them up or something. I now classify most of them as dead. But then again, I've revived characters before. How about you guys? Do you ever stop DDing with old characters, and slowly, over the years, replace them all with new ones?

This is a really good question and has really got me thinking about how I relate to each of my DDs and their characters. Just a few quick thoughts:

I've had four main daydreams(ones I've been able to constantly sustain for at least a year) and there are some characters who are very active at certain points but then gradually become irrelevant. I think it all depends on what the main character is up to. I'm pretty sure 2 of my main DDs have been permanently laid to rest (haven't DD'd with them in >2 yrs) and at least for one of them, it was because I stopped caring about the characters involved. As creepy as this seems, most the characters in my DDs are based off of people who exist in real life (but not necessarily only people I know personally or even admire) so sometimes those people fade away/get "written out" if I stop communicating with or thinking about them in my actual life. But I guess there's a possibility that they could reappear, provided that it made sense in the general plot of the DD.

I slowly, over the years, replace my daydream characters. My first DD couple lasted 3-4 years, followed by a new couple for 3-4 years, followed by my current couple of 5 years and still going strong~! I get stuck on them because their stories don't really evolve. I just start them over and over from the beginning with new things happening each time and tweak old scenarios. The possibilities are endless. *trapped* D:

I don't revive my old characters exactly as they were, rather, they get reincarnated. My current characters are just like the first ones I created a decade ago, only now, Yuna is a man and his name is Kevin LOL. They're always destined to meet and fall in love~ :3

Ahh no I don't kill charictors off as there my family I can't even think of doing that without me gettin upset lol. But when I get bored I pretend my charictor is dd another dream so I go to a different planet but in my charictors head.

So it's like that film Called inception. I am dreaming of myself dreaming of another dream.

I do this as my dd is very dear to me and I can't seem to co
E out I will always have my daydream family so instead of scratching them out of my mind for a few mins I would just imagine my charictor daydreaming. Then I can never get bored and don't leave my imaginary life.

Well, one character I killed off in a depressing scene, and one, due to something that happened in a book I got him from has sort of buggered off a while back. I've no idea what'll happen with him as well. Will that loose end be tied, or left loose? I really wonder. And I've not seen my 'best friend' in DD for a while (will see her again soon. I've repeated the "OMG, she's in labour scene. Why does she want me there when she gives birth I'll get nightmares and be scarred for life oh noo panic panic! " scene a few times, but she still hasn't given birth yet, not once haha) But I've been getting new characters. One's a bit of a pervert (you know those guys who try to hit on anything female? Yeah, like that.) And a couple have only made an appearance once or twice, but yeah. It's strange, because for a while I would not get any new characters, and now I'm getting a bunch more.

Hmm occasionally I'll run out of things to DD about with certain characters so I'll make new ones instead. I usually end up returning to the old characters eventually and I'll often change certain aspects of them, such as their age or what school they go to or where they live, but I keep the relationships and such pretty similar. Sometimes I'll create something totally new and different but that doesn't often last, as it takes awhile to "get into" or get accustomed to the new characters and situations.

Also, hi Holly, nice to meet you too.

many of my characters are immortal too, such as elves and vampires, or faeries. Also, since its a daydream, even the normal humans don't age unless I want them too (duh lol)
What I meant was, do your characters ever kind of wear themselves out. Like, the storyline becomes stagnant, and you can't seem to imagine new paths or scenes for them.

No, because my daydream is fantastic and some of my characters are immortal.
