I have seen a few videos of people and what they look like when they are daydreaming like we do. What I wondered to myself - and now to you - is if someone or you taped yourself while MDing, would you watch it?

I have thought about what I look like when I do this, but I'm normally so caught up in my daydream or moving so fast that I don't pay attention when I past mirrors (I could also be subconsciously refusing to look). I don't know if I could watch myself. I feel that I already look weird so seeing it might make me feel worse.

On the other hand, I'm genuinely curious as to what my parents and brother see when they catch me doing this. So what are your thoughts?? Would you watch to see what you looked like? or Have you already? (with a pre-setup video camera, someone caught you on tape, webcam, etc).

PS. I don't think I've seen this has been discussed yet and I've looked through several pages of older forums, but if so I apologize and just let me know.

you've seen videos?! i'd never tape myself in a hundred years. i know i must look insane; i would never want to see it. I wonder how they were able to do it.  i would feel really uncomfortable watching it.

I do however sometimes look in mirrors. If im really into the dream, i practically run so i dont have time to look in the mirror but when its slower ill look, and i dont feel insane then. something about watching the whole thing though, on a tape would make me feel uncomfortable. id also be paranoid someone else would be able to se it.

My parents have walked in on me a few times over the years, but never long enough to see much. i always stop and then pretend i was pacing towards the computer to st down or something. Obviously, they know something is up but they've learned not to mention it, and to wait for an answer before coming into my room.

I've always wondered what they really think of it, and what it makes them think of me. But I know they love me and i know they don't think im insane, just weird. but thats not much to go on. it would be interesting to ask them about it, but i never would. I freeze up inside whenever one of them mentions how i "lock myself up in my room all the time" or anything.

Part of it is worrying what others think of me, another part is a natural defense, i guess. It's the most private part of me, and i feel almost ... violated when someone who doesn't understand tries to pry into it.

One of my best friends also has MD, and we feel completely fine talking about it with eachother. It's actually amazing having someone to share it with. But we both understand, and we both have it to share. It would be very, very different talking to anyone who isn't like us, we've discussed all of this stuff many times with each other and we both feel the same way about it.

Well I saw one or two videos of a little girl and they were doing a sleep study on her I think. She was moving her hands, head and it looked like she was sort of talking to herself, and the comments said she was MDing. My mom, dad, and brother know what I do.  I will do it in the living room sometimes even with them there if they are in the back of the house, normally at night when they are going to bed. But they walk in on me all the time and I will try to 'overcompensate' by pretending to be doing something normal but they told me that it is OK and not to feel embarrassed. I still can't do it with them in the room but I don't freak if they catch me.

And I don't think I could watch it if I was taped, at least not all of it maybe just the first few seconds or minute. Thats great you have a friend you can talk to about it with!

Nah, I think it'd be a pretty boring watch. xD

if i filmed myself, i would watch it but i would never show anyone else. xD it would be cool to see what i look like daydreaming... i know how i pace but i think it would be fun to watch myself. i would probably laugh at how funny i look when i'm doing it. but i know i would look insane to other people, which is why i'd never show anyone and delete it right after i watched it.

Do you move? Mine wouldn't be boring, just probably hilarious and weird lol

I mostly sit/lie and stare into space, but move around a bit, roughly like I'd move in the daydream, and smile and stuff, and mouth words, but I already know I'd look a bit like a moron doing that, and I'd rather not see it myself haha

I'm the exact same as this! I'd die of embarrassment if I watched myself! Haha.

Can you tell me where you have seen the videos of people DDing? I'm just curious to see if others do what I do. Thanks xD

I'll try to find it and post the link on here :)

I think it would be hard to do.  I need to open my armoire door so the mirror doesnt show, or else I can't daydream.  If i knew I was being filmed, I couldnt do it.  It would also be so embarrassing to watch, you know? I pace and wave my hands, I already know I must look like an idiot, I would rather not have proof lol.  Has anyone on here tried???

No, I really dont think i would like what i see.

My pastor's eldest daughter is autistic and I noticed when she moves around she looks like shes in her own world. Her head is cocked to the side looking up while she moves her hands and will pace sometimes or jump in place. Her movements looked like how I feel when I sometimes am aware of the motions I do when I daydream intensely. I asked my mom and she said that I do look similar to her when she catches me daydreaming. It gave me a clue as to what I look like, which is as strange as I figured it would be. I found it interesting that some of our movements mimic some autistic people, but we can turn them on and off or control them and be aware in social settings.
