Write down all of your maladaptive daydreams in a journal and pinpoint all your hidden desires within these dreams. That way, you won't spend the day bottled up in your own thoughts and reveries.

More helpful advice, I find stressful responsibilities a big factor in suppressing your daydreams. I was recently given a project with a crunch deadline, and I just worked my ass off, without ever wandering. You are aware that you can't stop and daydream.

Any specific technique towards expressing yourself better socially?

As far as feeling lonely, depressed, and socially disconnected. I feel distant even though I am standing very close to people. Like my emotions are only expressed through pretend instead of real. I'm very introverted. There's things I value as an introvert, and things i don't like about extroverts. But I do have regrets.

Yeah, I am very introverted myself and suffer with autism spectrum disorder. Tips on expressing myself better in social settings is a tough one. I honestly, find it hard to go to clubs and parties. I get made fun off for my awkward behavior almost every time. Two people did the most embarrassing acts on me, just to make me smile. So, I didn't come back to clubs for quite some time. At parties, weddings, showers ect., I always face a few guests who comment on how constantly quiet I am. So those social events are currently not happening in my life right now.

I would consider doing some research on meetup groups that are friendly and suitable for people such as you. For instance, I'm always on the look about for social meetups for people who have Autism. I doubt you'll enjoy your self in bars and clubs where you absolutely can't be shy.

As for feeling distant, even when your close to people. I suggest that you just listen carefully to the conversations made by these people, and say something in between gaps about what you understand about the conversation. When I was still a heavy maladaptive daydreamer, I couldn't hear a word, so others used to find me deaf or somewhere else, and ever still do. Regards, the less you daydream, the more you can hear others out, and make input into their dialogue. Nowadays, I am more talkative and with it at the dinner table than I ever was before.
