so this month iv kind of come up with an idea to stop me from DDing, i decided to try things to keep me from DDing,  e.g  iv tryed knitting because iv never tryed to knit before, this stopped me for awhile because i was consentrating on what i was doing but after awhile i got the hang of it and i started DDing whilest knitting and iv also tryed to make jigsaw puzzels (1000 pieces, it also turns out im pritty good at making them lol) but again same with the knitting after awhile i started DDing.

i was wondering if anyone could come up with any new things to try to stop DDing?

also do you guys think this is a good idea to try?

I went to the doctor about MD, and after talking about it a bit and him reading some info I gave him, he suggested I try to keep my mind busy. When you're learning those new things, your mind's busy, but when you get the hang of it, you don't need to concentrate so much. Try to learn something you have to concentrate on more. I do mixed martial arts, and the lessons move quite fast (45min long) and it constantly keeps your mind busy, and as a bonus, keeps you fit. I'd like to recommend something like that. Or rock climbing, which is pretty much physical problem solving once you get to the harder climbs.

Maybe you could also start a type of art, or writing or something, something that, once you're used to it, will still keep your mind busy.

Baking helps me. Since I'm still at home until I get married and we get our house,  my Mom is usually there so I can interact with her to keep me from DDing while I'm mixing or doing something a little monotonous. She tries to help me stay in the present when we're together and knows I'm trying to get better at it.

I think learning new things is a great way to help, because your mind is more occupied and focused trying to pick up something new. It needs to be something you are interested in though or (if you're like me) you will get bored and revert back to DDing.

and I agree with Sandy about learning something physical. We MDers have a tendency to move while we daydream -- some not all -- so doing something physical might use up a lot of that energy and cut down on the daydreaming. Worth a shot right? ;)

I've just started doing needlepoint. It's a really complex pattern so I continuously have to concentrate as each small section of the pattern is completely different.I'm really enjoying it(although I have to admit I do feel a bit of a 1950s housewife which is so not me) and don't dd at all while I'm doing it.Let's see if that continues.

For me the physical stuff makes me dd especially if there is music in the background.
