I used to have the same problem. What helps me is a mixture of the following:

Getting up and going to sleep around the same time every day, no naps throughout day, exercising or taking a walk, balanced healthy diet.

I have stopped daydreaming a year ago, but I still allow myself to dream into sleep. I am always tired in the evening so I know that I will not be dreaming for very long, therefore I don’t pressure myself to go to sleep right away.

I'm already doing all those things, it doesn't help me. I should be in bed right now as I'm overtired, but I'm not, because I'm daydreaming. I'm stuck in that vicious circle of daydreaming, not sleeping enough because of that, and dealing with the consequence of not feeling good from being overtired.

The only way I could sleep is stop completely daydreaming. I want, but I can't. Daydreaming feels good and puts me in a good mood. 

I hope her suggestions will help you out. 

That must be so difficult- I know what you mean by not having that need to continue daydreaming-I hope it gets better for you<3 and thank you:)
