Maladaptive Daydreaming: where wild minds come to rest
Hey I'm interested to know what people DD about when listening to music and whether you have any particular tunes that make you DD excessively. With me I find that I move a lot when doing so like I pace up and down and also wave and rock my arms up and down a lot when I'm sitting.
Do people tend to place themselves in a particular scene, like a film or story, and act out as one of the characters or do they stick with their own? I find music gives me a sense of empowerment and I view myself as a stronger and better person than what I am already. I sometimes do it to impress both myself and others in my mind.
Like with watching a film or reading something I find I may stick with a particular song or artist and constantly play their stuff until I get bored of it by playing it to deaf.
Anyone else have the same experience with music?

Yes, alot of us have the same experience with music. Since I cant work without music I make a repetitive playlist, so that eventually it becomes background noise. But man, music is such a big trigger.
If I'm in a car with people I really shouldn't listen to music. I'll just bob my head and daydream. I've been called out on/made fun of this before. I can't hold a conversation with music in the background because it sort of does have priority. My responses are snappy/cold because like I'm thinking about something and their distracting me from my thoughts. I'm just trying to get back inside.
Scenes are normally very narcissistic in nature. Life of the party, shredding the guitar (note that I can't even play guitar), or going back in time and showing off to people who have done me wrong in childhood.
I am the same way in the car. I am also like this when I am running errands with my mother. I keep my music on and she gets frustrated with me for not listening when she speaks, but I get frustrated with he because she is interrupting my daydream (and she always seems to do it at the best part of the song/daydream)

I have different playlists for different sorts of daydreams. The two I play the most are one playlist for when I am with my MCs who are my best friends (not real life ones) and the other playlist is more a soundtrack I created for a show I made up in my head. So I will DD the particular scene I created to go with the song that comes up. Sometimes one songs makes me DD the same scene over and over again, but I try to break that habit, because I will start to get bored with DD altogether, and I'm not a happy person if I don't DD properly
Yes. Music is my main trigger. I constantly pace and just walk up and down the hall way listening to my music. I just zone out. I laugh cry, get angry and hols countless debates in my head. I am always my ideal persona and happy. I am honestly thinking of taking up a musical instrument and seeing what happens.
Pretty much the same experience...listen to a song till I am fed up to the point I don't listen to it for the next few days.
What I DD about: If it's a romantic song I definitely go own my own world, actually any song in which I'm following the lyrics I tend to drift off.I tend to connect with the lyrics and they tend to be the sparks that light up my imagination. If it's a specific song about high school/childhood trauma or death of a soldier/cheating and the video is about the same I tend to envision that happening to me/someone I knew who has been resurrected as a character in my mind. Also sometimes a new story starts if the song deals with infidelity or something I haven't experienced.
Any particular song: There isn't a particular song, but some which do(among others) are Kelly Clarkson's "Because of you" and "High School Never Ends" and "Sacrifice" Elton John in English; "Lukka Chuppi" by A.R. Rahman and "Kal Ho Na Ho" by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy in Hindi.
Do people tend to place themselves in a particular scene, like a film or story, and act out as one of the characters or do they stick with their own? I do both depending on the song and my own mood.
